Oslo in November. The first snow of the season has fallen. A boy named Jonas wakes in the night to find his mother gone. Out his window, in the cold moonlight, he sees the snowman that inexplicably appeared in the yard earlier in the day. Around its neck is his mother’s pink scarf. Hole suspects a link between a menacing letter he’s received and the disappearance of Jonas’s mother - and of perhaps a dozen other women, all of whom went missing on the day of a first snowfall. As his investigation deepens, something else emerges: he is becoming a pawn....

Serial Killer Couples: Bonded by Sexual Depravity, Abduction, and Murder chronicles the true crimes of sexually motivated serial killers who are intimates. In this latest true crime book from award-winning, best-selling criminologist R. Barri Flowers, nine gripping tales examine killer couples from America, England, and Canada whose murderous reigns of terror knows no end till they were brought to justice.

This novel quickly goes through some of the worst serial killer couples in history. If you can get past the terrible narration, it is an average read. If you find serial killers intriguing and if a fuzzy, badly edited narrator does not bother you, this book is for you.

In one evening, Terry Caffey lost everything. His wife, Penny, and his sons, Matthew and Tyler, were brutally murdered; his home was burned to the ground, and his 16-year-old daughter, Erin, was in jail, charged with thiree counts of capital murder.

This novel depicts a terrible event in one man's life but it is less a true crime novel than one man's spiritual journey. I would place it in Christianity, not true crime. It was interesting but extremely repetitive. Maurice England portrayed such emotion through the characters in this novel, he is a fabulous narrator.
If you do not like to hear about spiritual awakening, or Bible quotes this book is not for you.

Lisa Edwards, top London magazine editor, has been fantasizing about promotion to New York. Instead, she's asked to launch a new women's magazine in Dublin. She thinks nothing could be worse - until she meets her new staff. They're friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic - in other words, they wouldn't last two minutes in London!

Super book. Funny, engaging, entertaining, well written and very well narrated. Some have commented on poorly done American accents, the American accents are only at the beginning and very end of the book, too minuet to bother! Best book I've chosen in a long time! Great author and narrator.

With The Barbarian Nurseries, Héctor Tobar gives our most misunderstood metropolis its great contemporary novel, taking us beyond the glimmer of Hollywood and deeper than camera-ready crime stories to reveal Southern California life as it really is, across its vast, sunshiny sprawl of classes, languages, dreams, and ambitions.

A “fascinating psychological thriller” (Baltimore Sun), this entrancing novel introduces Isserley, a female driver who scouts the Scottish Highlands for male hitchhikers with big muscles. She herself is tiny—like a kid peering up over the steering wheel. Scarred and awkward, yet strangely erotic and threatening, Isserley listens to her passengers as they open up to her, revealing clues about who might miss them should they disappear—and then she strikes. What happens to her victims next is only part of a terrifying reality.

What a different book. Often I was wondering what was really going on in this book, made me think and try to figure out what had happened . Hard to put this book down, really enjoyed it. If you like creepy/mystery/thriller type books this one is worth a listen. Great easy to listen to narration. I would definitely read another book by Michel Faber, great imagination and well written.

On June 9, 2008, the butchered body of Travis Alexander was found in his Mesa, Arizona, home. The grisly nature of his death made instant headlines: With 29 knife wounds, his throat slit, and a gunshot to the head, Travis was left to die. The prime suspect in the case was Alexander's ex-girlfriend, the attractive and soft-spoken Jodi Arias. Though Arias initially said that she was nowhere near the scene of crime, little about this case was as it seemed, and before long she had been caught lying to police. As the investigation progressed, her lies evolved multiple times before finally resting on an appalling claim: She had killed Travis in self-defense.

Jane Velez-Mitchell may not be my pick as a TV journalist, but she writes an amazing nonfiction book. The author represents both parties fairly, new details I had not heard following the trial were very compelling. If you were intrigued by the Jodi Arias trial, you will enjoy this read. Still sends shivers down my spine...

On a damp October night, beautiful young Ashley Cordova is found dead in an abandoned warehouse in lower Manhattan. Though her death is ruled a suicide, veteran investigative journalist Scott McGrath suspects otherwise. As he probes the strange circumstances surrounding Ashley’s life and death, McGrath comes face-to-face with the legacy of her father: the legendary, reclusive, cult-horror-film director Stanislas Cordova - a man who hasn’t been seen in public for more than thirty years.

Wonderful read with intriguing mysteries. I made myself wait to listen so this book would last longer or I would have listened to it start to finish. I would not change a thing about this book, it leaves you thinking, wondering about the characters, and the narration is fabulous, great character voices and accents.

A gripping collection of stories of human criminality at its most bizarre.

These unusual, sensational murders recall not only gruesome historical crimes, but also touch on shocking and macabre modern murders. Included are details of groundbreaking advances in crime detection, law enforcement, and forensic science. This is the top-secret report on the most grisly, and unusual, criminal activity of our time.

I should have liked this book, I love true crime. There just wasn't enough detail to surround myself in each case, the conclusion was there before I had gotten interested. You have to listen very carefully every second or you will miss something important, if you can do this you may find this book to your liking.

Known among locals as the daughter of a brothel prostitute, Josie wants more out of life than the Big Easy has to offer. She devises a plan get out, but a mysterious death in the Quarter leaves Josie tangled in an investigation that will challenge her allegiance to her mother, her conscience, and Willie Woodley, the brusque madam on Conti Street.

Wow! Great read. The characters were so well rounded, interesting and well put together. This story is not a common one, high morals set within a brothel. This author has the ability to take ordinary words and weave them into something beautiful. The narrator was so amazing. Not only changing her voice for different characters, but becoming the character. Super listen.
