This book was ruined for me by the use of an Australian narrator even though the story was set in Britain. The Narrators strong Australian accent was out of place in this novel, I can't think what induced the publishers to make such a choice! Although most Americans (I'm told) can't tell the difference between the two accents, anyone from the UK will find this confusing and distracting. The story was a little slow but enjoyable enough.
Enjoyable, easy listen. If you love Molly Harper's Vampire series you'll like this too. Hoping for sequels! Full marks to the narrator too.
I nearly didn't buy this book not being a fan of the Vampire genre however after reading the reviews thought I'd give it a try. It actually took me a bit to get into the first book but by the time I'd finished I was hooked. Bought all 9 available. Just hope Ms Harper has more in the pipeline as I'm spoiled for anything else now. Amanda Ronconi is an awesome narrator I'm actually looking for more books that she's narrated
Several hours in and still waiting for the story to begin. The narrator is so wrong for this book. Amanda Ronconi could possibly have made this book a more enjoyble listen. I've just listened to 9 Molly Harper books in a row so maybe I've been spoiled for anything else...
A more lively narrator.
If you never read another book again you HAVE to listen to this marvellous story. Can't remember when I was ever, so upset to hear those two words. THE END! I actually said 'OH NO" out loud!I It was only the high star rating that encouraged me to buy this and thank goodness I did. I laughed and cried, was anxious and relived. I love that there is enough story in there for a sequel or even a saga. PLEASE Kathryn Stockett, don't end it here!
Such a disappointment. Story line had a lot of potential but went downhill quickly! It's all been said by fellow reviewers. Mills and Boon meets S&M. Don't bother. Very disappointing.
