The story we usually tell about childhood and success is the one about intelligence: Success comes to those who score highest on tests, from preschool admissions to SATs. But in How Children Succeed, Paul Tough argues for a very different understanding of what makes a successful child. Drawing on groundbreaking research in neuroscience, economics, and psychology, Tough shows that the qualities that matter most have less to do with IQ and more to do with character: skills like grit, curiosity, conscientiousness, and optimism.

When the Navy sends their elite, they send the SEALs. When the SEALs send their elite, they send SEAL Team Six—a secret unit tasked with counterterrorism, hostage rescue, and counterinsurgency. In this dramatic, behind-the-scenes chronicle, Howard Wasdin takes listeners deep inside the world of Navy SEALs and Special Forces snipers, beginning with the grueling selection process of Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL - the toughest and longest military training in the world.

What made the experience of listening to SEAL Team Six the most enjoyable?

If you're into learning about what drives a person to be in the SEALs and what it is like to be in SEAL Team 6, this is a great listen. I very much enjoy learning about life in the teams as well as what personal experiences the author had that motivated him to enter the SEALs.

At the end, the book goes a bit off topic and strays onto the benefits of chiropractic medicine of all things. A bit odd, but really doesn't ruin the experience of a otherwise great listen.
