Tom Perrotta's thirtysomething parents of young children are a varied and surprising bunch. There's Todd, the handsome stay-at-home dad dubbed "The Prom King" by the moms of the playground; Sarah, a lapsed feminist with a bisexual past, who seems to have stumbled into a traditional marriage; Richard, Sarah's husband, who has found himself more and more involved with a fantasy life on the Internet than with the flesh and blood in his own house; and Mary Ann, who thinks she has it all figured out.

What did you like best about Little Children? What did you like least?

The idea was promising but the author just couldn't connect in any real way. It was like watching an ant farm. You can tell what's going on but bugs are bugs. The characters were flat and the narration was basic and removed. Think Dick and Jane stories. I can't believe I made it to the end, which was abrupt and uneventful!

America as it was is gone forever, and now every citizen - from the President of the United States to the homeless on the streets of New York City - will fight for survival. In a wasteland born of rage and fear, populated by monstrous creatures and marauding armies, earth's last survivors have been drawn into the final battle between good and evil, that will decide the fate of humanity.

Would you listen to Swan Song again? Why?

I would listen to this story again because, it is only in the end that you realize how many hints and clues about the future were planted throughout the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Swan Song?

The seed of hope that is planted when the apple tree finally booms and fruits.

    Which scene was your favorite?

A peek of the sun which is a warm and healing promise of future possibilities.

If you could take any character from Swan Song out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I think I would take out the worn out old circus clown. What a rich an entertaining life he has led. He understands loyalty and would be fun and funny.

"Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't."

This is a fun and interesting approach to the inevitable discovery of young love. We all know how powerful and insane love can be. Imagine living in a world where there is a cure for this insanity? What would life look like? What will happen when; and if, a young couple can overcome the strong pull of an overwhelming societal norm. Is it worth the risk, ridicule, and ultimate isolation that will result if these young people explore one of our most basic and powerful human endeavors?
This is a short but interesting tale that takes a new approach to one of the oldest stories of human kind.

On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. And there are those who have vowed to destroy it. In the Valley of the Time Tombs, where huge, brooding structures move backward through time, the Shrike waits for them all.

    Story

This story is great in that it takes into account the very nature of our humanity that will never change despite drastic changes in time, space, technology, or political environment. The characters are clear and strong. It is easy to find and root for the character you relate to the most. This is a great adventure full of twists turns and they didn't leave out the emotional connection that makes you care what happens to the people in this tale.
If you love sci-fi; but, want a story that brings romance, family duty, heroism, and sarcasm, together, then this is the book for you.

The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

Great book. Hooked me from the beginning. The new world is delivered in great detail as needed. The thrill of the hunt never lets up. It's a fun and exciting brain teaser. Loved it from begining to end! Can you figure out the clues before they do?
