I found it really difficult to follow this play. I couldn't tell who the actors were. They all sounded alike so I didn't get a sense of the different characters. Maybe it is just too difficult to listen to this type of play.
Loneliness, family, fear
Excellent readers really made the book
The entire story was moving because of the depth of the characters
My only complaint with the book was that it got a little tedious about three-quarters in. I felt it could have been an hour or so shorter without losing anything.
Yes because I learned about the history of plague, but it was such a difficult subject that I didn't really enjoy it.
Geraldine Brooks is a wonderful writer so I always enjoy her language. I also liked the ending, once the time of the plague was over. Her stories are always so well crafted that I was really disappointed that I didn't love this one like I have her other books.
I don't care for the sound of her voice so there is nothing she could have done to improve the reading. I think it was probably an appropriate voice for the character, but I just don't enjoy listening to it.
Yes, this book really sheds light on why so many boys and young men are struggling in our society.
I've always been a strong supporter of education of women, but women are now the ones excelling. While I won't stop supporting efforts for girls and women, I think we need to develop new ways to support boys and young men.
Yes, it's very well written and a great story of a woman finding herself
Cheryl is multi-dimensional as she recovers from a difficult time in her early adult life.
I loved her as narrator. I assumed she was the author until I checked. She conveyed the author's story with passion.
