Just As I Am, picks up where Invisible Life left off, introducing Harris's appealing and authentic characters to a new set of joys, conflicts, and choices. In this vivid portrait of contemporary black life, with all its pressures and the complications of bisexuality, AIDS, and racism, Harris confirms a faith in the power of love - love of all kinds - to thrill and to heal.

What would have made Just As I Am better?

I found the jumping around from character to character confusing and an impediment to telling the story

After a whirlwind romance and a honeymoon in Italy, the innocent young heroine and the dashing Maxim de Winter return to his country estate, Manderley. But the unsettling memory of Rebecca, the first Mrs. de Winter, still lingers within. The timid bride must overcome her husband's oppressive silences and the sullen history of the sinister housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers, to confront the emotional horrors of the past.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! It was an outstanding story well told and engaging.
At first I found the nameless narrator of the story such a wimp that I almost quit, but I am so glad I kept listening.

What other book might you compare Rebecca to and why?

Agatha Christie's "The murder of Roger Akroyd." It was also a wonderfully told story of mystery and human nature.

What does Anna Massey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She made the story very personal and real. The perfect reader for this book

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It was long but I wish it could have gone on lomger
