"Catcher For a new Generation"
Yes. I read the Print in High School and it was amazing but HEARING someone read it as Charlie writing to you is unspeakably heart breaking.
Sam. The girl we all wanted to be with in HS.
Just the Flow of Conversation and the natural pauses and beats he gives the read. He was amazing.
Charlie to see if he is ok.
Can't wait to see the movie.
"Not great but not as bad a people are saying."
Yes. All 5 books are amazing. Personally I think splitting the books my location was a mistake but I understand the reasoning behind it. In regards to the reading. I only really had a problem with his voicing for Aria. She sounds like she is 80 instead of 10. Some of the pronunciations are different yes but they are different in the Show as well. Maybe he was asked to change them. Who knows, but It is good to have Mr. Dotrice read all 5 books.I would also remind everyone that the first 3 books were recorded back to back. So it's easy to keep everything consistent. Even Jim Dale changed some voices and pronunciations From book to book in the Harry Potter series.
All the other Song of Ice and Fire books. lol
Regal. Gifted. British.
Not extreme but I was unhappy with some of the vocal choices made. Some are inconistant with the other readings. (Aria most notably)
People need to chill.
"Hilarous."
I love funny Bios. Very high.
ummm..., Kevin?
His Timing and unscripted asides are priceless. There is something to be said for recording a book High.
Uncontrollable laughter.
The Southwest Airways and Bruce Willis chapters ALONE are worth the price.
"Another Point of View..."
Yes. The story is bothWhitty and Smart.
I Loved the Last Colony and It was great to go back and witness the story for the POV of the most important person in the story, Zoe.
Zoe. But Hickory And Dickory are close seconds.
No because it was a little too long for that. but several long stretches.
I would love to see what happens to Zoe in the future.
"Very Cleaver"
Never Read the print.
Definately Molly. She is so Confident and Smart but Sweet and Innocent at the same time.
When Molly is talking to the Porpoise. "My teeth are green.' lol
Every Child Grows up... To a point. I didn't get to see the Play but I would love to.
"STOP with the damn sound effects & music Already!!"
I LOVE John Williams and Ben Burtt. But as an Adult i do have enough of an imagination to hear the lightsabers in my head.
It is SOOO distracting to have to listen to wind rushing and swirling in the background when the character is in his own head I want to through my iPod out the car window. And its mixed so poorly that sometimes I have trouble hear the damn Narrator!
That said..., The story is amazing! and Daniel Davis does an admirable job trying to make himself heard over the SFX Din. If i were either of those men I would be VERY angry about the presentation my work or performance is being given here.
"John Lee Does his Best. But its not the same."
I usually Love John Lee as a Narrator, His Performances for Pillars of the Earth and Fall of Giants were magnificent. But having listened to Roy Dotrice for 3 novels it just didn't feel right. Words and Names were pronounced differently, Accents changed. I completely understand the Mr. Dotrice had a previous theater commitment. But Random House should really have delayed the Audio Production to accommodate him. This is a prime example of why you shouldn't change Narrators Mid Series.
Full Credit Goes to Mt. Lee. He did a fine Job. But again, it just didn't feel right.
