The SIGMA series has been fun to follow although this one seemed more complex - or far fetched - than usual. Perhaps the abridged version would be better. But what really upset the apple cart was the narrator. Couldn't put my finger on it until I realized I felt like I was listening to Marty Stouffer narrating one of his "Wild America" segments. Great film footage but couldn't stand his (to my ears) condescending voice. Furthermore, the narrator's reading of various characters doesn't seem to be consistent. My wife and I usually listen together while we're driving but she threw in the towel and said no more because of this narrator. I'll continue to listen on my own when we're parked but I'm not sure I'll make it to the end either.
Not there yet.
No. In fact were this narrator to do a book by an author I've liked in the past, it would be reason enough not to order.
One of the reviewers made an excellent point about changing a narrator of a series and how it would be like changing actors in a popular TV series. Imagine Indian Jones being played by anyone else but Harrison Ford. And look at how changing actors for movies has impacted the series - like Batman, or any of the James Bond movies.
