Ryk Brown's first book into the Frontiers Saga is a winner. The story introduces us to the young crew of the Aurora as they are forced to take control of the ship after an experiment with a new faster than light propulsion system leaves the experienced officers dead or injured. The story is fast moving with just enough back story to give you some feeling for the characters. I can't wait to listen to next chapters in this saga.
I would recommend this audiobook to a friend. It was easy to listen to and the story moved along at a brisk pace.
The plot was a little predictable. The valuable object, a rooster head is identified, our hero's are set to steal it from the big bad guy, they accomplished the task with nary a hitch but a little help from some humorous side-kicks and the problems ensue.
This is where this audiobook falls short. Mr. Brick is an excellent narrator but he is all wrong for this story. Kate O' Hare is the main character and the voice of the story. The narrator should be a woman.
I did find a couple of chuckles.
Funny, entertaining, captivating
This story blends humor with suspense in just the off handed way I like.
The reader has a way of making the off-handed comments of the author seem real and timely.
Hogan's Hero's meets the The Time Machine
This book is the perfect blend of humor, suspense, and drama. Well Done!
