"Books are fantastic, narrator is barely okay"
I have to agree with many other reviewers here as to the narrator. She sounds much too old to be MacKayla Lane and what she does to Jericho Barrons is rather unforgiveable. He is described as a large and very vibrant man but she makes him sound like a tiny withered old man. I really wish these would be re-done with other narrators and am looking forward to the final two books where the narrators are different.
"Just keeps getting better!"
I love that each character sounds like a new actor/voice. Although it is clear that one person is narrating she has done such a superb job of giving each character their own sound, accent and tone it almost seems like it's more than one person.
The continued growth of the characters.
I love her characterization and voice for Terrible.
"I hoped it would be even better and it was"
Outstanding, emotional, challenging.
I'm not sure that this book really compares to other books I've read, it's very much its own style and tone.
When Chess saves Terrible, I could feel her terror and need.
I would say it made me gasp more than cry and this isn't a book that probably would or should make a person laugh.
"Fantastic Story and amazing narrator"
Amazing, unusual, unexpected
The characters have real problems and real issues, they have so much more depth than many of the characters in books of this genre.
She is amazing! She makes each voice its own and gives each character a clear personality which is pretty unusual from what I've listened to so far on a lot of audiobooks. I hear her pronunciation and voice now when I'm reading the books.
The scene between Chess and Terrible in the bar.
