"Great book. Great narrator."
Excellent book and narration. A great story, but I am a biased Hendrix fan. Very interesting retrospective of Hendrix's life, and the author is very knowledgable with the facts and history. I enjoyed every moment of this book.
I also highly recommend "Heavier Than Heaven" the biography of Kurt Cobain, also written by Cross with the same narrator. The two books are on the same level.
"Great story. Typical O'Reilly."
Very good story with extensive detail on the Lincoln assignation. Better than any other I've read on the matter. The problem I have is that there is so much detail on the account of the events leading up to and following the assassination, you have to wonder how factual it all is. I like O'Reilly's books, but he can stretch and distort the truth and make it believable. May have been more believable with someone narrating other than the author. A good read/listen though. I look forward to his newly released "Killing Kennedy" which I hope is just as good a book as Lincoln. Or as John Stewart said on The Daily Show, "It's probably more of a confession".
"Good story. Enjoyable."
Kind of a long story and seemingly endless, but it ties together eventually and has a good ending. Good narration. Kind of a monotone narrator which doesn't help the seemingly endless story.
"Story ok, narration excellent"
The story is slow to start, but ramps up and finishes strong. John C. Reily's narration is excellent and helps with character development.
"Imaginative story"
I think I was more excited to listen to Jim Dale narrate than I was for the story. He did the Harry Potter audiobooks, and does a great job narrating The Night Circus. It's a good story about magic and imagination.
"Good story and narration"
Good story, more detail than the movie. Narrator does a good job trying to give each character a voice/identity.
"Awesome and motivational story"
Terrific story. Very motivating for competitive or casual runners. Non runners will be intrigued as well. Good narration and character development. Best book I've listened to in a long time.
"Good story. Awful narration."
Long time RHCP fan. An interesting story but the narration is the worst I've listened too. Poor quality recording, narrators voice is shaky and tries to give all characters different voices but it doesn't work. Hearing pages being turned as he reads is poor sound editing as well. Great story on the development of a great band.
