This book has the feel of a King and George Romero collaboration. The author re-visits the apocalypse in classic King style. Campbell Scott does a marvelous job with the narration. He paces it so well, the dread he creates will make you feel like a very large hand is squeezing your chest, -just a little. (If you liked Atwood's Oryx and Crake, you will enjoy this as well and vice versa) I literally could not pull the earphones out last night until I was done with this one.

This is like a great cheesburger. No, it's not a rib-eye at the fanciest steakhouse, but a really good, satisfying, literary meal.
And the ending? .... Wow. Did I just get hit with a baseball bat?

Well worth the audio credit. If you like Vince Flynn, Ludlum, etc. you will enjoy this tight, well written yarn. I could not put it down.

In all fairness, I only gave this tome only four hours worth of my time. At that point, I either had to stop and go to my next choice of books or claw my ears off. There was no one character here to like or dislike, or in fact, to develop any interest in. The plot was equally dreadful. Read at your own risk.

I'll cut to the chase here. This book is everything the other reviewers say when they use terms like 'disturbing' etc. in terms of the images it leaves one with. More importantly, is what this book is not. It is not engrossing. It is not captivating. It is not a book I felt like telling anyone else to read it so we could share the experience and talk about it.

A totally enjoyable audiobook experience. Narrator Scott Brick brings this book to life. I could not put my Otis down. Although a few years old, this is definately a title worth exploring.
