In Lisa Gardner’s first-ever short story following 13 best-selling novels, "The 7th Month" takes listeners between the books and into a day in the life of Boston Detective D. D. Warren.

In her seventh month of pregnancy, D.D. should be taking it easy. Instead, she accepts a small consulting role on the set of a serial-killer film shooting in Boston. D.D. figures she’ll be useful to someone for at least one night, serving as a police expert and making a little extra money in the bargain. It seems like a simple task—until the previous film consultant, a former Boston cop, is found beaten to death.

I actually thought I had played the last chapter by mistake and then realized it was the entire book. Guess I should have paid much more attention to what I bought. I can't believe I used an entire credit for this.

Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination. Rose Mary painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family; she called herself an "excitement addict."

For Kimberly Quincy, FBI Special Agent, it all starts with a pregnant hooker. The story Delilah Rose tells Kimberly about her johns is too horrifying to be true; but prostitutes are disappearing, one by one, with no explanation, and no one but Kimberly seems to care.

This book is beyond creepy, crawling into just plain disturbing. I was on a road trip so I was caught in the web with no escape. I did not like the way the characters presented and in the end it was predictable. Pass on this and pick one of her other books, as she is usually a great read

The story is good, but easy to tell it's an early work as the story was a little choppy and rushed, but kept by interest and it was an enjoyable read overall

When Dr. Mike Scanlon is called to serve as an army doctor in Afghanistan, he’s acutely aware of the dangers he’ll face and the hardships it will bring his wife, Chloe, and their newborn baby. And deep inside, he doesn’t think of himself as a hero, but a healer. However, in an ironic turn of events, as Mike operates on a wounded soldier in a war-torn country, Chloe dies at home in the suburbs, in an apparently freak household accident. Devastated, he returns home to bury her, only to discover that the life he left behind has fallen apart.

Little else in life is as dangerous as fire jumping. Flying past towering pillars of smoke, parachuting down to the edge of an all-consuming blaze, shoveling and sawing for hours upon hours, days at a time, all to hold the line and push back against the raw power of Mother Nature. But there’s also little else as thrilling - at least to Rowan Tripp. The Missoula smoke jumpers are one of the most exclusive firefighting squads in the nation, and the job is in Rowan’s blood: her father is a legend in the field. She’s been fighting fires since her eighteenth birthday.

This was a fun book to listen to; plenty of twist and turns, mixed with a little bit of "I saw that coming." But overall it was fun and exciting; wouldn't mind a follow up with the same characters.

What did you love best about The Girl Who Played with Fire?

This is the 2nd book in the trilogy and while the first book was hard to get into, this book grabbed by attention from the beginning.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Lizbeth takes out two thugs by her little tiny self.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book has a faster pace then the first book.

    Any additional comments?

This series is a little hard to keep up with simply because the names of the characters are all so close, i.e. Bloomkist; Berger, Bergstrom, Blowblanski; and then all the
