I was so excited to download a real who-dunnit by some of the greatest authors ever but... I don't know. It was good, but not as good as I had expected. I never really felt a significant connection to any of the charachters. It felt choppy, and not that surprising at the end. Not bad for a summer listen, but there's better out there for sure!

This heart-stirring tale of a young slave girl, torn between her love for a handsome aristocrat and her faith in God, transcends genres with its awe-inspiring power and emotional intensity.

    "An Unexpectedly Good Read"
    Overall

This book is not my usual download. I usually listen to Kellerman, Baldacci, Flynn, Child etc... It came reccommended from a couple girls I work with and I was hesitant to give a Christian book a try. I have to say that it has become one of my favorite books of all time. The story is moving and the charachters inspiring. It's not a goody-goody book and really keeps you interested. Richard Ferrone remains one of my favorite narrators and does a great job with this book. You should plan on immediately downloading the second in the series "Echo in the darkness", to get the full impact of the story.
