I LOVE Stephen King. This book went above and way beyond my expectations. I don't have too much to say, other than I'm a huge fan of King, and this is one of my top favorites from him. It scared the *@#! out of me! i drive for my job, out in the middle of nowhere, and in the middle of the night, to boot. i often listen to Mr.King while driving, and "give me back my dust cover!" gave me the CREEPS so bad it nearly made me quit my job. don't take this wrong, as with most of his books, this isn't really just a ghost story; and the story behind the story stole my mind and heart, and i gladly fell in love with it. this book definately gets a RARE five stars!

I am very torn as to whether the narration or the writing was the better part of this recipe, but the fact is that they are both so darn good,that they make one of those things where the " is greater than the parts". Unbeatable job on both ends.

Even if I had no idea who the authors were, I would clearly see that NOS4A2 has really strong parallels to The Talisman, by Stephen King. They are both dealing with double worlds, a gifted young person on an inner and outer quest. NOS4A2 is definitely much darker and scary as heck, though!

She has such a talent, a good narrator can take an okay story and make it really good, but in this case, we got a great narrator and a great book and they made each other really something much more than you could get by reading alone.

Really, Hills characters are vey well realized and he got a remarkable gift from dad in the way he can make you really FEEL a situation. I'd have to say that I'd pick Charlie Manx as most memorable though. He was creepy as hell, and Mulgrews voice for him just gouged out a place in my brain for him. Scary dude! (The Wraith HAS to go along with Manx as part of his character, as they are really inseparable when thinking of one or the other!)

I would recommend the series, if not this specific book

I like this series, and its a fun easy to listen to story, but this was surely and by far not the best in the bunch. I will still finish the series though! It wasn't bad or anything, just more like the step between the previous and the next books, instead of a great story on its own.

I loved everything about this book

I really liked how real the characters reactions felt, and the setting was beautiful and so much a part of the story.

I felt he did a great job with the story. He was a good choice.

I liked the story itself, but not as much as I'd hoped to.

I liked Nicks point of view a lot. Some of the writing was really beautiful, but again, not as much of it as I had expected.

This guy should stick to movies. He gave everyone's lines as if their sentences were cut off in the middle of a thought, and he mispronounced words! The MOST ANNOYING was that when the 'coupe' came up, he kept saying "cooPAY" what an idiot. I wonder why no one caught this, as the word comes up over and over again in the story....idk, he just wasn't any good, which sucks cuz I like him fine as an actor, and hoped to really like this book since I'd never read it, but now I wonder if I didn't like the book so much because of the book or because of his story telling?

Since the narration kind of stunk for me, I am going to read this book myself. I think if so many people like it so much, then I should At least see if it was the story or the narrator that softened the story so much for me.

Brilliant, real, involving

I've listened to many of Vance's books, and I think he is right on with this one. No better no worse. He always does a great job.

I actually, unexpectedly, loved this book! I've read better stories, seen better characters, looked into better worlds, but somehow, Clines struck some wonderful sweet spot in ALL of these areas, leaving us with a great, fresh, INTERESTING, story. I really loved every minute of this book! I'd definitely listen again, because I was truly sad when I saw this book was at its end...

It was alright, worth the credit, but barely. I am so torn in trying to decide if the narrator ruined this book or if the characters' stupid remarks would've sounded so dumb anyway...it was odd, like the story was conceived by an intelligent person, and then a stereotypical surfer dude w a low iq wrote the dialogue between characters...I also don't want to totally bag on this book, but it was really hard to listen to Lightsong's voice. I was so sad, because the books premise, and the story behind everything was wonderful and had so much potential!!! It makes the character's stupidity and poor dialogue/responses so hard to hear...

ABSOLUTELY, I really like Sanderson, and I'm still unsure if the narrator ruined this book, or the characters themselves...but in any case, it is the first of his books I have been less than perfectly happy with.

Lightsong's voice was HORRIBLY ANNOYING! I keep wondering how his character would've been so much more likeable if he did not sound like so much of an idiot. I know some of this was the character's self deprivation, and laziness, but he really could've still had a normal voice. It was truly awful.

The stark difference between the story's ideas and world, a d the characters themselves is hard to fathom. I feel like a brilliant person laid the background and story itself, and then a high school kid filled the actual characters in. I never saw such a thing. Huh...

I'd have to say, it ranks fairly high on my list of books in this genre. It is a little bit...innocent? for my taste, but other than that, it is really-as s series- one of the best there is. The magic is good- original and interesting, the story is TOP NOTCH, and the characters are, almost to a one, still, years later, stuck in my head with how real and likeable they are. There is also something else, I cannot put into words, that makes this story really one of my favorites.

King's writing is always the best part. I can really feel like I'm inside the stories.

This foreword is great, especially for fans of King that've read his Bachman books. HOWEVER, in it, King tells the ending of the Running Man. It was written, I think, as a foreword for all the Bachman books, and someone overlooked this fact and stuck it in the beginning of this story. It really would do much more good as an afterword. Still a great story though!

I loved the historic information. I loved the suspense. This author really surprised me with how really well written this book was. His characters were full and lively, the setting was well formed, and his mystery was very well paced. Unlike some mysteries, there were no dry spots and then over loads of info., and there were no overly/unduely frustrating episodes. I liked everything about this book, and will absolutely be looking up more from Mr.McCammon.

One memorable moment (there were many) was when Matthew gives Woodward his weskit back. I felt like crying. I suppose that as i think of my response, many of their interactions are what stand out for me, although their story was secondary.

I was really impressed with (SPOILER) Matthew's encounter w Lynch/Lancaster. His near hypnotism was totally spellbinding (no pun intendended). I dont know if it was the writing, or the reading of it, but it snagged my brain and almost had me hypnotized as well

I wouldnt say an EXTREME reaction. However, I like this book VERY much and will be shoving down the throats of many family members and friends!! It did make me laugh and cry, though.

As said in an earlier response, McCammon thoroughly and pleasantly surprised me. This has been one of the best new books that ive read this year. It was really well written and a ton of fun to see through to the end!!!
