"Interesting Historical Insight"
If your a Potter fan, this will give you some insight into how the series became such a phenom. Can drag on in some places, but all in all, the historical insight it worth the listen.
"AMAZING!"
Yes from the beginning of the series
How the author used truth as a powerful weapon to defeat evil!
Murtagh
Best of series and Gerald Doyle was great. The one disappointment was Doyle changed Hrothgar's voice? It was perfect in the first 3 books. As an audio book fanatic, I noticed it right away.
"A Must Listen"
First list to Taipan and Gai-Jin (in this order) and get ready to be astounded with this modern version on the Noble House. John Lee is absolutely amazing. I have listen to all three of these two and three times each and I don't get tired of them.
"Amazing"
Absolutely one of the best novels of the Clavell Asian saga. John Lee is, as always, FANTASTIC. No way anyone who like audio books will not listen to this multiple time. I have listened to it 3 times this year.
"RUN DONT WALK AWAY"
I love James Clavell's novels and have heard all his other Asian novels recorded by John Lee. I have over 200 audio books in my collection, so I listen to a lot of books, authored by many authors and read by various narrators.
A good friend said Shogun was Clavell's best novel (he read it), so I bought it. I wouldn't know by this narration because it is the worst I have ever heard.
David Case's normal narration is a very haughty British high societal tone, tempo and accent. Ever word in drawn out and has no flavor.
His character voices are forced, uncomfortable and inconsistent. He sounds as though every word is exacting pain.
Finally, who ever did his technical sound/editing did a horrible job. The volume is inconsistent and you can easily tell were the breaks in the recording occurred.
John Lee -- Please record this novel.
"Inkheart"
Bought this audio to refresh myself on the story after starting Inkspell. This is Listening Library at its finest. Lynn Redgrave does a superb job. If you like Harry Potter, LOR, Eragon or Chronicles of Narnia, this is a perfect addition to your library.
