It is fall. CIA analyst Jack Ryan, historian and former Marine, is vacationing in London with his wife and young daughter. Suddenly, right before his eyes, a terrorist group launches its deadly attack. Instinctively, he dives forward to break it up, and is shot. It is not until he wakes up in the hospital that he learns whose lives he has saved - the Duke and Duchess of Kent.

This is another excellent novel by Tom Clancy and in my opinion is very well read by Scott Brick. I like the acents that Scott Brick uses and while I don't consider myself to be an expert on different accents I can always tell weather the charactor speaking is English, Irish, Scottish Austrillian or even South Aferican by listening to the accent Mister Brick gives to the Charactor in question. He doesn't do as well with female charactors as he does with male charactors but I don't feel comfortable critising him for that. Dispite what some may say or think this is the second book in which Jack Ryan puts in an apperance even if it is the first book in which he does more than put in a breif cameo apperance. Jack Ryan did make a very breif apperance in Without Remorse discussing with his father his reasons for going into the Marines. Great book, well read, what more could you ask for.

Ayla, the independent heroine of the Earth's Children series, sets out from the valley on Whinney, the horse she tamed. With her is Jondalar, the tall, handsome, yellow-haired man she nursed back to health and came to love. Together they meet Mamutoi - the Mammoth Hunters - people like Ayla.

I read the first book in this series shortly after it first came out and was captivated by the story and the setting. Auel had an excellent idea for a story and did a bang up job of telling it. The next four books in this series I grabbed as soon as they were released. When these books became available as audio books on cassette I bought them and listened to them again and again over the years. Now I have the entire series again through Audible. Good investment in money and great investment in time. Personally I think Sandra Burr does a good job with the series. My only complaint is that it has been 31 years since the first book in the series came out and Auel said at that time it would be a six book series. For anyone that's interested book 6 'Land of Painted Caves' will finally be released in book stores on March 29, 2011. I hope Audible makes it available then as well I've been waiting on for 31 years. Actually the five books of this series that have already been published read more like one exceptionally long book. I know a lot of people don’t care for the detail that Auel goes into but I like it.

When Muslim fundamentalists blow up a key Soviet oil complex, making an already critical oil shortage calamitous, the Russians figure they are going to have to take things into their own hands. They plan to seize the Persian Gulf, and more ambitiously, to neutralize NATO. Thus begins Red Storm, an audacious gamble that uses diplomatic maneuver to cloak a crash military build-up.

I'm not sure how long ago it was that I first read this book, but I loved it. Since then I've reread it numerous times and have thoroughly enjoyed it each and every time. When I saw that Audible had added Red Storm Rising as an unabridged selection I was delighted.
When I listened to this selection I once again enjoyed an excellent story told with skill. Some people might not care for the detail that Tom Clancy goes into but as far as I'm concerned the more detail the better.
    More unabridged Clancy please.
