In the 10 years since his classic Kitchen Confidential first alerted us to the idiosyncrasies and lurking perils of eating out, much has changed for the subculture of chefs and cooks, for the restaurant business and for Anthony Bourdain. Medium Raw explores those changes, tracking Bourdain's strange and unexpected voyage from journeyman cook to globe-traveling professional eater and drinker, and even to fatherhood. Bourdain takes no prisoners as he dissects what he's seen.

    Overall

I loved Kitchen Confidential, and was really looking forward to this new book. However, he spends most of his time explaining why he became a sell-out, and his comments about how Rachel Ray and Sandra Lee aren't really all that bad made me want to throw up.

Skip this one if you used to love him. Buy it if you love any of the drivel the Food Network puts out currently.

A prime number can be divided only by itself or by one—it never truly fits with another. Alice and Mattia, both “primes”, are misfits who seem destined to be alone. Haunted by childhood tragedies that mark their lives, they cannot reach out to anyone else. When Alice and Mattia meet as teenagers, they recognize in each other a kindred, damaged spirit.

I don't like the Narrator they chose for this audio book. It looks interesting enough, but I can't listen to this man's voice for the length of it. I'll buy the hard copy instead and read that.
