Survivor, genius, perfumer, killer: this is Jean-Baptiste Grenouille. He is abandoned on the filthy streets of Paris as a child, but grows up to discover he has an extraordinary gift, a sense of smell more powerful than any other human's. Soon, he is creating the most sublime fragrances in all the city. Yet there is one odour he cannot capture. It is exquisite, magical: the scent of a young virgin. And to get it, he must kill. And kill. And kill.

Marius says: "A man of nose mean city"
    "Interesting and Slow"
    Overall

This story was hatched from a wonderful concept... the reader was great and the details were rich. However, I felt that the story lost the listener several times due to a lack of immersion. I enjoyed the book, but wouldn't put it on my short list.

Only Thomas Ward is left. He's the last hope; the last apprentice. Can Thomas succeed? Will he learn the difference between a benign witch and a malevolent one? Does the Spook's warning against girls with pointy shoes include Alice? And what will happen if Thomas accidentally frees Mother Malkin, the most evil witch in the county?

    Mark says: "Loved it!"
    "Fun and Immersive"
    Overall

This book was both fun and immersive. The characters were well rounded and enjoyable. If you are in the mood for a colorful story about magic and witches, this is a great choice. Not too deep, not too childish...just right. The reader was very good.
