"WOW!!!!"
I read alot of books, but this is the first one in a long time that had my attention so thoroughly that I couldn't put it down. I could constantly be seen with my earbuds plugged into my head. I always thought I was pretty good at figuring out the ending, but this one caught me totally by surprise. Not only does the author do a great job of making his characters three dimentional, the narrator does a remarkable job of bringing them all to life. No sooner had I reached the last page when I started the book over again to see how differently it would read after knowing the ending. This is one author I will add to my favorites, and one narrator that I will watch for in my book purchases. It was a fantastic read!!1 I now find myself wanting to attend the movie to see if it follows the book. As far as the ending, I liked it. It still leaves you wondering about Teddy. It allows you to use your own imagination. I'm still pondering it!
"RATS!!!!"
I wandered everywhere for days with earbuds protruding from my head, totally mezmerized by this book. I had no problem with the time jumps, and always love anything narrated by Scott Brick. Today I realized I was FINALLY close to the end. All things would be explained. I could remove the ear buds. Then came the ending, the ultimate joke on me after sooo many hours. I first let out a little barrage of appropriate obscenities, and then broke into lsughter. If this isn't the perfect set up for another book, I don't know what is! I'll wait to see what happens next because after all the time invested, I gotta. Good book, but the ending sure doesn't do much for the blood pressure! Hmmm, I'm gonna miss those earbuds.
"Incredible!"
This is an author I was not at all familiar with, but this book seemed to be so highly recommended that I took a chance. I am very glad that I did! The writing is so descriptive that it grabs your imagination in the first sentence, and keeps you captive to the very end. The narration is very well done, and the background sound effects tasteful. I live in Ohio and have visited French Lick many times. I will look at it differently next time. This is an author that I will add to my list of favorites. He reminds me a bit of Stephen King with a little of the mystery of Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes tossed in. It's one of those books you can't put down, and know that it is also one you will read again. Fantastic!
"Very Inspiring!"
I'd heard alot about this book, but wasn't sure it was one that would keep my interest. I was surprised and moved by the way the author was able to tell an age old story, and make it relevant to the times. I found myself unable to pull the headphones off my ears. There were places that I actually found myself laughing and even crying. How I envied the main character as he spoke with God, and even questioned God's reasons for things that happened in his life. We can all find some way to relate to his anger and pain. How I wished I could be there with my own questions. This book is one that reaches inside you and gathers up all your beliefs and hopes and strengthens and gentles you all at one time. I recommend it highly, and hope you find your own meanings and answers in it's pages. I know I did.
"Pleasantly Surprised"
I'd never seen anything by this author, but wanted something relatively short and interesting. I found this book to be one of those I couldn't put down. Even though I had guessed who the bad guy was, it did not take away from this book at all. I especially liked the fact that I was able to be surprised by the ending! I will be looking for the next book by this author, and adding the name to my list of favorites.
