  • The Bastard Mummy

    • UNABRIDGED (1 hr and 46 mins)
    • By Frank Zafiro
    • Narrated By William E. Fortier
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Detectives Finch and Elias have seen a lot - murders, assaults, rapes, missing persons - but they've never investigated a missing mummy before. Follow the two partners in this novella as they sift through a half dozen different suspects and try to solve the mystery of a stolen mummy from the River City museum.

Part whodunit mystery, part procedural, with more than a little wise-cracking along the way, The Bastard Mummy has a little something for all kinds of mystery readers.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    A better narrator

Would you ever listen to anything by Frank Zafiro again?

    I would give it another

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of William E. Fortier?

    Not sure.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

There were a few humourous points.

    Any additional comments?

I would consider giving another of Frank Zafiro novels a chance. I found the narrator for this book annoying, sometimes the voice almost faded away and I had to replay, with the volume much louder, in order to catch what was said. Not the best when listening in a vehicle with all the noises of a vehicle, outside noises, etc. Even when I tried listening to it while doing the dishes, no one else in the house, it was hard.

  • Full Disclosure

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 10 mins)
    • By Dee Henderson
    • Narrated By David de Vries
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Ann Silver is a cop’s cop. As the Midwest Homicide Investigator, she is called in to help local law enforcement on the worst of cases, looking for answers to murder. Hers is one of the region’s most trusted investigative positions. Paul Falcon is the FBI’s top murder cop in the Midwest. If the victim carried a federal badge or had a security clearance, odds are good Paul and his team see the case file or work the murder. Their lives intersect when Ann arrives to pass a case off her desk and onto his.

Tina says: "DEE surprises you again"
    "Too preachy"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Leave out the preaching. Felt it interfered with the flow of the story.

Would you be willing to try another book from Dee Henderson? Why or why not?

No. I'm not an overly religious person and don't appreciate it being the central point of a story.

What aspect of David de Vries’s performance would you have changed?

He covered the full spectrum, making each individual distinguishable.

Do you think Full Disclosure needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Entirely up to the author but I won't be purchasing it.

    Any additional comments?

In the synopsis, it should have been noted that this is a very religion-oriented book.

  • Hell's Corner

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By David Baldacci
    • Narrated By Ron McLarty, Orlagh Cassidy
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

John Carr, aka Oliver Stone-once the most skilled assassin his country ever had-stands in Lafayette Park in front of the White House, perhaps for the last time. The president has personally requested that Stone serve his country again on a high-risk, covert mission. Though he's fought for decades to leave his past career behind, Stone has no choice but to say yes. Then Stone's mission changes drastically before it even begins. It's the night of a state dinner honoring the British prime minister.

Ramon says: "Great story with nice twists"
    "Lots of twists!"
Would you listen to Hell's Corner again? Why?

Yes. Lots of twists and turns.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely. Kept revealing interconnected plots that were unexpected.

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Brings the characters to life. Defines them extremely well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Kept me interested but, no, I didn't laugh or cry.

    Any additional comments?

    I would definitely recommed this.
