Love this book. I only wish the narrator was someone who researched the culture. Words mispronounched was bad enough but her overly enthusiastic, bubbly tone is very not Amish like and becomes irritating.you have to remind yourself this is Amish fiction. And if you have listened to other Amish books by people that researched the culture, like Beverly Lewis narrators you would understand what I mean.
It makes the book lose it's Amish flavor.this book is better leaving in paper form.
I listen to my books before I fall asleep at night...this book has kept me awake the past few nights. I am new to Charlotte Hubbard and wasn't sure at first as a lot of the newer authors are picking narrators that make you cringe. She has picked an excellent one in Susan Boyce...this book is very captivating. I have been listening to Amish audio books for several years and own over 100 books. I started buying them before Audible was what it is today. I Love the book, love the author and love the narrator. Great job Charlotte Hubbard! Keep up the good work.
This was a good book once you got into it. The main issue I had with it was there was too many characters. Took a while to sort out who was who and how they fit into the story. But because Christina Moore was the narrator I was deteremined to sort it out. She makes listening worth the effort.
This book was totally boring...If I never hear the word "Rose" again it will be too soon..I fell asleep while trying to get into this book. Just couldn't get into it. Too much focus on given to the rose...
SSG always seems to stick with true honest Amish fiction. So many "Amish Authors" are taking Englischer stories and turning them into "Amish" books. SSG sticks to basic Amish life.Never change Shelley!!!! I have loved all of her SugarCreek books and own them all,and have listened to them many times over and over again. Great reader, great story. Love this author!!!
Brooke Sanford is NOT an Amish narrator. The voices were so baby talk like I almost returned this book. Mature Amish women don't sound like 6 year olds!!! Very disappointed. She needs to listen to real Amish narrators and take a page out of their books!!! I am tired of these immature voices. Beverly Lewis always seems to find the best narrators.
I have never had an Amish book that had sexual content. Loved the book Minus the sexual content!
There hasn't been many good new Amish books lately. Either the story is good and performance is bad or the other way around. This is an all around good book. I have listened to it twice. Awesome book!
I have treasured this book for years and was glad to see it at Audible. I have the worn out cassettes of this book. I would definitely recommend this book and any book that is narrated by
Lynn Redgrave. My other favorite book of Rosamunde Pilcher's is Winter Solstice. Both of these books will always top my reading list.
I wasn't sure I would like this book and hesitated buying it. Only to find out I was glad I did. This story weaves it's way through the lives of Amish and English. And joining the two cultures together in an unexpected way. I would recommend this book to all true Amish book lovers.
