I have read many, many Amish books and if you are looking for true Amish fiction don't waste your money. This is modern fiction under the gize of Amish fiction. Very disappointed.
I have never had an Amish book that had sexual content. Loved the book Minus the sexual content!
There hasn't been many good new Amish books lately. Either the story is good and performance is bad or the other way around. This is an all around good book. I have listened to it twice. Awesome book!
I have treasured this book for years and was glad to see it at Audible. I have the worn out cassettes of this book. I would definitely recommend this book and any book that is narrated by
Lynn Redgrave. My other favorite book of Rosamunde Pilcher's is Winter Solstice. Both of these books will always top my reading list.
I wasn't sure I would like this book and hesitated buying it. Only to find out I was glad I did. This story weaves it's way through the lives of Amish and English. And joining the two cultures together in an unexpected way. I would recommend this book to all true Amish book lovers.
Love this book. I only wish the narrator was someone who researched the culture. Words mispronounched was bad enough but her overly enthusiastic, bubbly tone is very not Amish like and becomes irritating.you have to remind yourself this is Amish fiction. And if you have listened to other Amish books by people that researched the culture, like Beverly Lewis narrators you would understand what I mean.
It makes the book lose it's Amish flavor.this book is better leaving in paper form.
Liked the books before this one. This one not so much...reader doesn't have Amish enunciations. She sounds like it could be any person reading any book not Amish books. They have a distinct accent and way of speaking which puts me in the book with the characters. And again Lancaster is lank-ester. NOT Land-caster. If I wanted to listen to a regular story this would be O.K. but it does not have the Amish feel I look forward to when listening to Amish books.
I am enjoying this book very much ...although Renee is very "dramatic" which the Amish are NOT. and she doesn't know how to even pronounce Lancaster. It is not "land-caster" it is "lankester" being from Pennsylvania it erks me how many times this word has been mispronounced. Let's get people to read these books that have done research of the people and places. Like Christina Moore. She is the best one I have ever heard read these types of books.
Very disappointed in this "Christmas" Book. I listened to 6 plus chapters and no Christmas in sight. Why this is called a Christmas book I am not sure. It was a disappointment and a waste of my credit. Stories d r a g g e d. I am yet to listen to the last book on the audio so can't comment on that one. I definitely wouldn't buy it again and would not recommend it to friends.
