This is my 4th book regarding the development and use of the atomic and hydrogen bombs. This one is more personal. It does not argue the politics or ethics about the need for or use of the bombs on Japan. It just tells the tale of the survivors. Narration is excellent. Physical descriptions of what happened are not for the weak at heart. Stories of those that were in both Hiroshima and Nagasaki when bombed are amazing.

I enjoyed this audiobook but couldn't understand the fascination/addiction over the constant references for cigar smoking. For a famous sports guru, this is the last thing I would prefered to hear about and it could have been left out without detracting from his stories in any way. Other than that, the narration is great as well as his stories about bodybuilding competition, movie making, and politics. It is refreshing how he takes full credit for screwing up his marriage.

Unimaginative and an obsession with cigar smoking that has nothing to do with the story line. Vivid descriptions of various brands of cigars along with the enjoyment of their smoke. At the same time, the story is predictable. Too bad, it had potential with the idea.

The reader is poor and has a long way to go. He may develop a good style one day but it won't be on my dime. The story is geared more for a young crowd. There is a journey to the center of the earth feel about it. I won't buy it's sequel book 2

I enjooyed alll 3 Sandman Slim audio books but they aren't for everyone. If you enjoyed the movie Goodfellows, you'll like these books. The language is rough and violence even rougher but the reader knows how to delliver the lines well. The stories are irreverent if you are the godly sort of person but those with an open mind will enjoy the imaginative context of the stories. And if you enjoyed the book 'Badass' you'll lovoe these three as well. I enjoy the Dresden series, as well, but Sandman Slim is in a class by himself and way beyond Dresden. Also consider the Iron Druid series. Same kind of story line - one main magical character against all the bad guys. Again, lots of fun unless you're a bible thumping church goer.

I enjoyed the book. Narrator great. The story line is about slavery. Don't expect it to end well.

If you enjoy the narrative of a 15 yo nerds journal and his boring life, this book is for you. Awful.

Poor narration made the listening monotonous. Also, one needed a map to keep track of all the geography noted by the author regarding troop movements.

If you weren't put off by the title and you enjoy a great story narrated with gusto, this might be the book for you. I loved it but I don't think any english teacher is going to recommend it. Review the author's web site, badass.com, to read some story lines on 'badass' history characters to get a flavor for his 'over the top' writing style. The author, himself, is badass and doesn't care one bit for someone's sensibilities. He just likes to tell a great story in a fun way. L

Great narrator. Very unconventional information that animal-based diets,including dairy, are causing our diseases of affluence, including obesity and cancer. Well worth listening too. We won't hear this message in many other places given its business implications.
