The winner of multiple Hugo Awards, Charles Stross is one of the most highly regarded science fiction writers of his time. In The Apocalypse Codex, occasionally hapless British agent Bob Howard tackles a case involving an American televangelist and a supernatural threat of global proportions.

In October 1943, a U.S. destroyer sailed out of Philadelphia and supposedly vanished, the result of a Navy experiment with electromagnetic radiation. The story was considered a hoax - but now Juan Cabrillo and his Oregon colleagues aren't so sure. There is talk of a new weapon soon to be auctioned, something very dangerous to America's interests, and the rumors link it to the great inventor Nikola Tesla, who was working with the Navy when he died in 1943. Was he responsible for the experiment? Are his notes in the hands of enemies?

A brief word to Mr Du Brul. Some of us are still waiting for you to keep your promise on returning to a certain Geologist AKA Phillip Mercer, it been 8 years........

Very good Oregon novel. Better than the last few I hate to say it but to me this was a bit better than the last Dirk Pitt book. Topical and timely in its fiction with the Far East as the area most involved in the story. I will very much recommend this book to any Cussler fan.

When Nathan Garrett’s friend seeks his help investigating a bloody serial killer, the pattern of horrific crimes leads to a creature of pure malevolence, born of hatred and dark magic. As powerful as he is, Nate fears he may be overmatched, but when evil targets those he cares about and he is confronted by dire threats both old and new, Nate must reveal a secret from his recently remembered past to remind his enemies why they should fear him once more.

Not a bad second book for the series. It was nice to see Tommy is still around and that Nathan still has some other friends around. The Werewolf pack was fun but the story lacked some of the punch the first book had to me. Still a good listen and I would still recommend this to other fans of the genre. The idea that Nathan is friends with Hades I found slightly funny as his depiction in the book is far from what history portrays him as. Its a fun ride and I eagerly await the next book.

Wow I have read Tom Clancy most of my adult life and I cant believe he is gone. This was a very good book. Just enough of both Jack jr and Jack Sr. With some nice new story of what the President got up to back in the CIA. It plays well with the current politics and was believable. I only wish Mr Clancy could be here to give us more!!!

It certainly suffers the middle book syndrome. But its still a good listen. If you like the characters and style its just fine. There are a few new wrinkles added and a minor mystery for now which could grow. This isn't meant to be a negative review and I don't want it to sound like it. This book sets the stage for whole lot more which could be interesting if played out right.

In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

It was a good story. The characters aren't as compelling to me as in the Star Force series. But a very similar start. The only things we humans are good for in the universe is fighting is what the alien overlords think. I will get the next book to see how the plot develops.

In the Pacific, as USS Walker is repaired and updated after a previous battle and Reddy is healing from his wounds, planning begins for a bold raid on the very heart of the Grik Empire. But time is running out for the Alliance army in India, and the Allied forces in the west must gather in an unprecedented land, air, and sea campaign to destroy the mighty Grik battle fleet and break through to their relief. All other plans go on hold when the attempt proves more difficult - and more heartbreakingly costly - than anyone imagined.

Its nice to see some of the political intrigues getting finished up. Hopefully the Alliance will pull together again after some of the internal strife. Cant wait for the next book as usual.

Nice to see them (The Alliance) find more allies and scary to think that the Grik/Jap might have too.

In Taylor Anderson's acclaimed Destroyermen series, a parallel universe adds an extraordinary layer to the drama of World War II. Now, Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy, the crew of the USS Walker, and their allies battle an ever-growing host of enemies across the globe in a desperate battle for freedom.

This book certainly shakes up the status quo of the alliance. Adar offering to leave as commander n chief, The New British Isles new leader... Its a very good book and I couldn't stop listening.

What did you love best about Storm Assault?

Seeing the Blues attempt to fight back.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Storm Assault?

Crow and Riggs meeting after all the years, and seeing what Crowe had done to himself in his fear over Riggs and Star Force.

    Which scene was your favorite?

General Kerr being caught by Star Force.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Crowe attempts to kill Jasmine.

    Any additional comments?

A good book. Again you can see its just a set up book for whats to come. But its by no means a bad book!!! Riggs has grown and changed a lot since the beginning. He is still having to come to terms over Sandra and hopefully with this he can finally close that chapter and move on to face the Macros and Blues. The Macros have been awfully quiet and I think they will be back with a vengeance since they failed to take Earth.

I have read most of the Myth books years ago. Then I kinda forgot about them (ie life was happening ) and was very happy to see them now on Audible. This is a inbetween book I would say as the main drive is to find Aahz and move on to the meat of this story the show down with our old "friend" Queen Hemlock. Its still an enjoyable light read. Great for cheering you up as all the Myth Books are. Its not Discworld but its as much fun for me.
