"Great story"
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it. It was a realitively easy listen. I gave only 3 stars because the author did not make enough commitment to characters and details. I was not drawn into their world enough to feel a personal stake in the characters. Good twist to human behavior and instinctual self-preservation.
"Listened 10 minutes"
Can't even talk about books content. Listened 10 min. and could not continue. Narrator sound like he had a pound of snot in his sinus. Mumbled words, terrible articulation. He sounds on his death bed or drunk. And the greatest sin in audio books..."he said","she said","I said" in every sentence. Only 2nd book in over 100 purchased that I couldn't listen to. He read for Jolie Blon and I liked it, so I don't know why this was as it was.
"Listen to Sample!!!"
Kim & Lawrenc are right. Just listen to the sample. What a great way to ruin an audio book..."I said","I said","I said". I'm goin' for the paperback.
"Awesome"
Pendergast is one of the coolest characters I've run across. He would make a great old world vampire- the ones with class and manners but are spooky as you know what...and he's the good guy! I was drawn into the story from the very start. Nothing was given away or ultra predictable. Great detail and character building. I immediately bought "Cabinet of Curiousities" because I had to hear more from these authors. That book was good, but not as good as this one.
