    It took me awhile to get used to the narrator, he grated on my nerves at first. But after a few chapters, I grew to like, then to really enjoy his narration. The story was gripping and overall a great read.

    I do love Roberta Gellis, so I bought this despite the negative review about the narration. It's not Susan Duerden's best, but I found that it improved as it went along and I did enjoy it.

    I was looking forward to this book as I love the genre and the description sounded intriguing. However, the book was long, boring and repetitive. The subplot about Matilde was very unsatisfying to me. The narrator was very good, though, and kept me listening to the bitter end.
