This is a love story, a Southern gothic involving a young boy named Ethan (who is desperately looking for meaning and a way out of his mundane life in the rural town where his ancestors are rooted), and a girl named Lena (who has been different for her entire life, and has supernatural powers). I really did like the story, and I thought it captured many facets of the south really well. The authors tapped into the south's potential for a lovely gothic setting.

There were only two gripes I had with the book/audiobook, and they are minor. I will explain them.
I live in Georgia, and grew up in a rural southern town, and so there were some times where I felt that this book overemphasized the "same-old sameness" of small rural towns. Let's just say that there were many examples of things that people "never" do, like spend time in the town library or something, and examples of things that certain people always do. These notions were a bit cut and dry for me for several reasons, the main reason being that it's not very realistic (there are always exceptions to the rule, besides the protagonists); I found that a wee bit distracting. That is my only gripe about the story. The audiobook did the southern accents fairly well, but there were a few times that grated my nerves a bit, but there are variations of southern accents, so maybe I am just being picky (non-southern people may not even notice, I don't know). On the whole, though, definitely worth purchase or credit!

While listening to these books, I became attached to the characters, especially to Bartimaeus and Kitty. Some parts of this story were truly heartwarming near the end, and there's enough action and suspense throughout to keep you listening when you should be doing other things... highly recommend. And the narration is one of the best I've ever experienced by a single narrator.

I love to read Dracula, and it is just as fun to listen. This story is very entertaining. The only thing that got on my nerves after a while was the accent of Van Helsing. It may be correct or good or whatever, but I didn't enjoy it (but this is a petty gripe). Other than that matter of preference (you may not dislike it at all), this was an amazing narration and I highly recommend it.

During the first minute of this recording, when I heard the very first depiction of Skulduggery's character, I knew I would love listening to this audiobook... and I did. It was an entertaining listen, the narration was good, and the characters are likable (especially Skulduggery). This story can be good for kids and fun for adults too.

Great story and narration, meant for adolescents or teens, but very enjoyable for adults too!

This story was well-developed and well-written. I also liked the narration, as well. I recommend it to anyone at all, period. I loved the characters in this book even more than the plot (the villain, the guardian, the witch ghost, the poet ghost), and I love how this audiobook led me to a new version of _Danse Macabre_, done by Bela Fleck and Ben Solee. You can find the MP3 on iTunes or Amazon MP3 store; I think it was done especially for this audiobook.

Great story, really good narrator. The rich prose and good writing are a real treat, it was all in all a very satisfying listen. Though I sort of didn't like the heroine in the beginning because of the way she acted with the servants; one other reviewer didn't think her behavior was realistic, and I might agree a little. I think I had more propriety as a child than this heroine did when she got married. And it wasn't as though she had never been in the company of wealthy people, to see exemplary behavior toward household staff. Also, she was constantly daydreaming about the way things would be, or the way things had been, and daydreams are described in detail. There were so many imaginings on behalf of the heroine that it really staggered the plot a bit, but it didn't prevent me from enjoying this audiobook. I recommend it to anyone; it's a classic.

I really enjoyed the reading of this audiobook, and I also have the print version. The narration was well done.
I really enjoyed the story line as well. Many other reviewers fail to see how any of Henry's stories about family life have to do with anything, and most people question the lesbian affair that his mother is having. I would like to be very clear on this point: there is no real portrayal or depiction of any lesbian love affair, only mention of it, with minute details. I personally don't believe that the knowledge of the existence of gayness is damaging to children. I enjoyed this glimpse into Henry's family life, as it let me get to know him and what he has to come home to, and sort of shows that there is turmoil on all fronts for him. It was interesting to see the way he deals with it all, and to see the contrast between the way he becomes a hero in the faerie realm, and how helpless to control anything that happens to his family in our world. I for one can sympathize with Henry's situation, not that my mother had an affair when I was growing up or anything like that, but that my parents made a lot of decisions that changed my life totally and I had absolutely no control over them because I was just a kid (I am speaking of divorce, remarriage, divorce again, overprotectiveness, etc). I suspect that others can relate to some of Henry's problems, as well as his outrage at some of the decisions his parents made in this book. I only say this because several reviewers wondered why the detail about his home life was there, and thought it came out of nowhere. I thought it was fine.
I thought the rest of the story was also intriguing as well, and got attached to many of the characters. I recommend this audiobook to anyone; it is very entertaining.

The story is original and fun, and centers around a young girl's life in a magical theatre. The narration is amazing, Full Cast Audio did a wonderful job, and it was very entertaining. I had already read _Eyes Like Stars_ when I bought this audiobook, but the dramatization of it is a real treat, just as I hoped it would be. I am currently reading _Perchance to Dream_, which is the sequel to this book. I hope to get the audiobook for that as well, and I hope it is as good as this one :).

The main character, Cat, undergoes some important changes in this book, and it was a pleasure to listen to her journey. I listened to this audiobook in the span of two days and I loved it. I loved the romantic element, although I wish I had seen more of it at the end. I love the inclusion of Einstein's quote about being a vegetarian, and the fact that the author researched the topics discussed in this book in depth, and that writing this story changed her life. I think that's a testament to how great the book is, that it could possibly impact the readers'/listeners' lives.
