My Atheist friends find this book much more convincing than I, as a believer. A good book, nonetheless, but many arguments presented are not strong enough.
I probably would, but would prefer a condensed version of several of his books to this one.
Dawkins' performance was excellent, but Ward's came off as condescending and trying too hard to force opinion. Changing the tone of voice to make a statement come off as ridiculous may sway some, but not an intellectual looking for a solid argument.
YouTube Mr. Deity (there is an even funnier cartoon series but I cannot remember the name)
Bottom line - if you're already a non-believer then this book can give you some extra debating points. If you are already a believer this book doesn't have the solid evidence required, unless you are truly looking deep down for a reason to change. This book is the opposite of The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, whose book, although the arguments are much better presented, doesn't contain the evidence required to make one believe. However, just as in Dawkins' book, if you deep down want to believe what the book is trying to sell you already, then the book may be all that is needed to convince you.
Great thoughts on reality
I see a lot of complaints about the narrator so be warned - don't listen for the narration, listen for the story.
I would have interviewed the opposing scholarly opinions, not just the scholarly who only hold one opinion.
Not really... Although I was a bit annoyed to see the question towards the end about many other religions producing similar effects somewhat dodged.
If you are on the edge and truly want to believe Jesus is God deep down inside and just need that little bit of evidence to sway your opinion then this book will do it. But for the more skeptical the arguments in the book can appear incomplete. Christianity is not a logical religion, it is a faith based religion. If you are looking for logical evidence chances are you won't find it.
Knowledgeable and academic
Worried if I had to pick an emotion, but with additional knowledge I can be prepared
It definitely allowed me to understand monetary policy as it relates to the world economic situation especially over the last decade. A very interesting book to say the least! I was reluctant to read it at first because this is tot typically my favorite topic, but I'm glad I did.
Ender's the man!
Great storyline that kept me listening intently. Characters are all developed adequately and story flows and is easy to follow.
Not at first, but after I got going I would have loved to if time allowed.
There was one woman performer whose character voices did not deviate much from each other and seemed over dramaticised, but her appearance was rare until especially the end.
Definitely worth a listen!
