Laurel McBane has always relied on her friends for support, especially when her dream of attending culinary school was almost ruined by her parents’ financial problems. Now Laurel is repaying the kindness of her friends by creating extravagantly luscious tiers of cakes and other confectionary delights that add the perfect touch to their clients’ weddings.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Loved the Bride Quartet series, but this was definitely my least favorite. Helps flesh out the series, and I'm glad I read it before book 4, but was lacking compared to the others in the series.

Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere.

I know this book was set in a coffee house, but couldn't believe the amount of time dedicated to coffee. How to brew it correctly, this way or that way - turkish, espresso, etc. How normal people store their coffee incorrectly, the HORROR. It was very repetitive to me. The story wasn't horrible, but I won't be buying any more books in this series. The book seemed more about coffee to me than the murder/mystery.

Margo Sullivan had everything a young woman could ask for. But while growing up along the rocky cliffs of Monterey, she couldn't help but dream of bigger things. The daughter of the Templeton's stern Irish housekeeper, Margo had been treated like a member of the family. Deep down, she knew that money could not buy the one thing she craved most - her mother's acceptance. Maybe things would be different if she could be sweet like Laura - or had Kate's shrewd head for business.

I like Nora Roberts - have read lots of her books. But I had a horrible time with this one. I just could not like the main character, Margo. Throughout most of the book she was completely self absorbed, and happy about it. Or sad that her life had to change. I stuck it through to the end, but I am torn about the other 2 books in the trilogy. I actually like the other two women much better than Margo. So I'm tempted to give them a chance. But I has very disappointed in this one.

Recently widowed, grieving Los Angeles midwife/nurse Melinda Monroe answers a small upstate town's ad for help. Nestled amongst California's giant redwoods, quaint Virgin River is host to many quirky characters - including bar owner Jack Sheridan, who may be just the man to make Melinda smile again.

What made the experience of listening to Virgin River the most enjoyable?

I love this town. I love these people. I have read several of the books in the series and I so enjoy getting to continue to see glimpses of the characters years down the road, after "their" story has already been told.

This story is about Mel and Jack - it all starts here.

Which character – as performed by Therese Plummer – was your favorite?

Hard to pick one. I ADORE Therese as a narrator. I can absolutely tell who is talking, her range in voice is amazing. That can be one of my pet peeves about listening to audio books, having to wait for the "said so-and-so" to figure out who is talking now. Some narrators just can't differentiate enough. Therese Plummer is excellent, I love listening to her.

In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection - pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises, not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth - at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.

Would you try another book from Rebecca Donovan and/or Kate Rudd?

    Don't know.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I liked the book, at first. I couldn't finish it. She kept getting more injured and then taking crazy risks, as I guess teenagers are prone to do. But her two friends just sat by and let her continue. I know they are just kids, but I just couldn't read anymore I was so tired of waiting for the axe to fall on her, again. And have her friends be upset and unhappy but do nothing, again.

Would you consider the audio edition of Bet Me to be better than the print version?

I so enjoyed this book. I've listened to several Jennifer Crusie books and I've enjoyed them all, but this one is my all time favorites. I adore the characters, the banter, the entire story. It is fun, and I have already listened to it twice.

Hannah Matthews is undeniably tough - a single mom, a top-tier PR exec, a breast cancer survivor. On the job and in her family she prides herself on being go-to Hannah, who can handle any crisis. But with her 85-year-old grandmother balking at going into a retirement home, her 20-year-old daughter unexpectedly pregnant and her old flame suddenly underfoot, Hannah is facing a few crises of her own.

Would you try another book from Sherryl Woods and/or Allyson Johnson?

I have read many other books by Sheryl Woods and really enjoyed them. I just didn't feel this one. It had potential. . . I enjoyed the characters, but they lacked the ability to make me feel for them, or be emotionally invested in them. The book left a lot of things undeveloped, and unfinished in my mind. I re-listen to audio books a lot - helps me stick to unenjoyable tasks (exercise, cleaning). I will not be listening to this one again.

If you’ve listened to books by Sherryl Woods before, how does this one compare?

    Not nearly as good
