Very disappointed with this book. He went into great depth and explanation on why we overeat and how the food industry has manipulated us, but I found very little help as far as how to overcome the cravings and manipulation, which is why I purchased the book.
This book helped me tremendously with my anger and bitterness during my divorce. I was even able to forgive my soon to be ex. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is faced with divorce. Lori gives you the tools and exercises to move forward. I am in a much better place because of the help I received from this book.
I'm in the minority about Anne Hathaway's performance. I thought she was wonderful with the narration but when she did the different voices and accents I found they were very annoying. The scarecrow sounded like Marge Simpson, one of the other characters sounded like a french maid and another one a valley girl. I love the movie and had never read the original story. I still have to say I love the movie better than the book
I couldn't stop listening to the book (no thanks to the narrator!) and listened to it 4 hours at a time. I loved how you were in vested in the characters and were rooting for them. The story was great even though the narrator was annoying!
I really disliked this narrator! I though he sounded like the narrator on the old Bullwinkle cartoons. It just sounded over the top and ridiculous. And his women's voices were like fingernails on a chalkboard. I will avoid listening to him in the future!
Before I finished listening to the book I couldn't understand all the negative reviews about the ending. I understand now that I've finished. The ending was extremely disappointing with how great the rest of the book was, with all the twists and turns.
This was my first introduction to Cody McFadyen and I liked this book so much when I was finished I bought the first Smokey Barret book that was written. Joyce Bean did a great except that all the men's voices sound like they're little old crotchety men, even hunky Tommy
I'm always looking for something horsey to read. I really enjoyed this book. Was it a little predictable? Sure. Did the mom make stupid decisions? Of course, but the world is full of people who have made bad decisions. I still enjoyed it. I liked it so much, in fact, that since Audible doesn't have the sequel I will have to buy it in print.
Absolutley horrible! I purchased this because I usually listen to pretty dark mysteries/thrillers and thought I could get my mystery fix with a few laughs. Not so, this wasn't funny in the least. All I can say is the author must have dirty pics on everyone he mentionined in this book otherwise they would sue his a## for portraying them as he did. I'll never see Gerard Depardieu the same again! Save your money!!!
I listen to my audiobooks when I take my walks but I couldn't stop listening to this book and wound up listening to it almost nonstop until it was done. Now I have to buy another book to listen to on my walks. I was so engrossed in the story that the narrator didn't bother me a bit and just as when I read I never pay attention to the less important words.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I do most of James Patterson's books. The only thing that drove me nuts was the narrator doing women's voices. He made them all sound like transvestites.
The book was entertaining. However, sometimes it seemed to move very slowly and I actually fast forwarded a few times without missing anything.
