I really enjoyed this book. It's good that Garry Marshall narrated it himself, because he knows the names and the stories. I like his outlook on life. Great book - it held my interest from beginning to end. Lots of little interesting tidbits about the TV shows and movies. Get it!
Excellent book. I can't believe all the clues that Harry Markopolos, the author, uncovered on the trail of Bernie Madoff. And the great thing is there are interviews with key players, which is a great thing about an audio book. The narration is excellent but the interviews add something extra which I thought made it fun. The book takes you inside the financial world in Boston and New York City, inside the government namely the SEC and how it just failed!!! The author reveals names - those who failed to stop Bernie Madoff, we know now what happened and it is shocking. Great book.
This was an excellent book, held my interest, revealed shocking things! The author takes you inside a mental institution, way to the very far reaches and he talks with psychopaths. He takes you inside elite military training. He talks with scientists who study psychopaths. This is all just so amazing and revealing. I never could have imagined that the traits of psychopaths could be positive such as "live in the moment" and not caring what others think. I read several books lately that changed my world view and this is one of them. Another one is The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt. The narration is excellent. Thanks to the author Kevin Dutton for getting these ideas out there, and to all the scientists who did the studies, and even to the psychopaths in this book! Some of it reads like science fiction yet it is true. It is just mind blowing.
I love tell-all biographies and this book is a satisfying read, for the behind the scenes and the secrets, the insults, the mistakes, and the "oops I shouldn't have said that - but can't take it back now" kind of things. This is how the White House really works. Although I support Obama, he's not perfect. No one is. Obama has some lofty ideals - listen to this audio book to find out how those ideals bit the dust. It's a great listen. Holds your interest beginning to end. It's funny how some people like the first or second half better. I found the first half better, more interesting things about people. The second half was more about politics, strategy and international relations - also good.
I liked this book. Just listening to it I was like "really?" And "I can't believe it!" All through the book. I would never guess this cyber war was going on. Yes I had heard of the conficker worm, but never knew the behind the scenes war between the bot master and the cabal. It is amazing. I loved the book and the narration is excellent. I feel like my world view has changed.
This audiobook is an amazing accomplishment. For one thing, Judy Collins reveals all her innermost hopes and dreams and where they took her in life. Secondly, she reads it herself and that gives the book a lot of meaning. It's an epic story. She made all these choices in life and it is mind boggling how it all turned out. She is famous and has accomplished so much. Now listen to what happened behind the scenes. I felt like I was there, from growing up in Seattle and Boulder, to getting married and moving on, it really brings you back into that place and time. Well worth listening to. I loved it! Songs at the end are wonderful too.
Fun and easy to listen to, the book is interesting and well written. The author narrates it well. I enjoyed listening to it. I highly recommend it. Very poignant story of how she adopted her daughter, among other tales of her career. Loved it!
I'm glad the author read his own work, because for one thing, he pronounces all the names right. This book is a piece of history, of how TV shows evolved. All the names and events should be told by the author. I highly recommend this book. It's excellent.
I enjoyed this book and it held my interest throughout. It's a real inside look at finance. I agree with Greg. Whatever happened to corporate responsibility? It seems like Goldman Sachs thinks it doesn't apply to them. This book tells an interesting story from college through vice presidency for Greg! Nice work.
I loved this book! The narration is great. It's all about language and linguistics. You will find out why it's easier to learn a language as a child. How the chimps never really caught on to language like we thought they would. Why it's not really true that you think differently when speaking a different language. All language started as a proto world language and two languages in Africa directly descended from that. Go ahead, you can end a sentence with a preposition. That rule is just made-up! Learn why. This book kept me enthralled form start to finish. Includes some interesting cases of medical language defects and what they tell us. Easy to listen to and understand, and it's fun!!!
