"Painfully & Beautifully Real"
This story struck a cord in me. No matter what your experience was in high school everyone can relate to this story. Everyone has their own pain and their own joy but these emotions are especially heightened in High School and memories that will literally stay with us for a lifetime. This audio book conveyed those emotions perfectly & was very difficult to turn off. You simply fall in love with Charlie, the lead character. Difficult to listen to the end but well worth it. Bravo for Chbosky for putting it all out there. Amazing story with the perfect narrator in Noah Galvin. You won't regret buying this book. Just don't think it's another 'Breakfast Club' though. It runs much much deeper.
"Baseball Play-by-plays"
I'm a Cardinals fan and found the back stories interesting but there were way too many literal play-by-plays of different games. I was also disappointed Tony didn't actually read the entire book. He just read the very beginning. I'm a Tony La Russa fan & part of the draw was having hear it in his own words. Overall a pretty average listen.
"Crazy good"
I went back & forth between audible & the kindle version & literally couldn't stop reading it. If I couldn't read it, I listened to it. The story keeps you guessing until the very last page. At times it could be a tad predictable but was still great fun to read. The narrators were perfectly chosen for this book. Now comes the challenge of finding something as good.
"Five stars across the board"
I'm not usually a big fan of Anne Hathaway but honestly this was one of the best audible narratives I've heard. She was fabulous. The story was not the same as the old movie. It was much better. No matter what your age you'll like it.
"Beautiful story all the way around"
The story is great but Elizabeth McGovern was PERFECT. This is a must read especially for women.
"Average story line with great narration"
Average storyline and great narrator. It definitely kept my attention which is not easy. The sexual innuendo gets a tad ridiculous by the end though. I mean at times I felt like I was listening to audio-porn. If you can look past that- the story is pretty good though. The characters were interesting but expected. The women both have "daddy issues" which is kind of a cop-out these days bc it's such an old theme but they fit into an average storyline well I suppose. That being said, I like a good haunted house story and this fit the bill for sure.
"Bravo Rob Lowe!"
Great autobiography with great flow, great stories and read extremely well by the author himself. Really held my attention. Worth the purchase. The only problem is the audiobook doesn't have a download of the pictures he includes in the hardcopy which are always nice in an biographical book.
