Don't put off listening to this great book until tomorrow. Seriously this is a practical, step by step approach to becoming more action orientated, focusses the mind on the order and importance of tasks. Using knowledge of human psychology the author believes we can trick, cajole and manipulate ourselves into productivity just as easily as we can fall into passivity and procrastination. We just need to recognise the signs of weakness and act on them. Worth a listen on the way to work.

This is without any doubt the best work of fiction I have ever listened to. The book is fabulous, literate and pleasing in every possible way. The narrator does a first class job and clearly understands and enjoys playing Engleby. Memories of this book will stay with me for a very long time.

This is an unusual book, beautifully written and crafted around the conceit of an angel telling us the story of the ancestry of Adolf Hitler. Without drawing conclusions about nature versus nurture and the fact that this book is fiction, it does make one reappraise our wrongheaded beliefs that Hitler had a boring "normal" upbringing, and somehow turned bad. The parochial atmosphere of provincial Austria is superbly described. Listen to it with an open mind and you'll love it.

It was such a pleasure to listen to an intelligent novel whose beauty lies in it's simplicity. Boyd manages to inter-weave two distinct plot lines and end up with a satisfying conclusion. It's tense, thrilling and romantic. A must listen in unabridged form. The female narrator is an accomplished British actress (even been in a Bond film!) and she's sublime in the delivery and pitching of each character. She even has the French words spoken without fault. So in conclusion the source material from Boyd is great and the delivery even better.

One of the funniest things I've listened to all year. (2005) Listening to the Trump chapter alone is worth the price of entry. He's a witty and intelligent writer and very well read. Put a smile on your face and listen to this book.

The sheer brilliance of the authors comes out in the first minutes. Like sitting in the lecture theatre listening to an exceptional mind. A pleasure and privilege to listen.

Beautifully read, wonderful uplifting content. What more could one want. Even the most jaded and cynical of you won't fail to be captivated. Colonic irrigation for the soul!

This is very personal and difficult to rate. The recording is professional but the voice grates. The reader has a slight cockney accent, certainly not flat received prononciation (the Queen's english if you may), which makes him sound like someone trying to sell me a used car at an east London market stall. Ok I am labouring the point, but the content would have been much more powerful if he had used a professional reader with a pleasant voice. Regional accents are fine in some circumstances, but not here and not for an international audience. Hypnosis requires the most subtle communication and is weakened by the reader's vowells and stacatto diction.

I am not a "Sly" fan by any means, but had seen him interviewed numerous times on non cinematic subjects and found him intelligent, driven and amusing. If you want to learn about nutrition, exercise and improving your life, and have an entertaining back story about SS, then this is really a very good book.

This is a classic example of where taste comes into play when appreciating the literary arts. Maybe from an American perspective, and the very unique business style in the US, this book is believable and entertaining. From this European's experiences, this book contains weak material and is did not grab my attention. It's an acquired taste, but you may love it.
