Snow Child started off slowly for me. I almost didn't give it a chance. Fortunately I stuck with it and I loved it! I'm not one to give away plot lines. This is a magical, fairy tale of a book. It is an adult fairy tale. It will take you away while you wash dishes and fold laundry. The visuals are beautifully written, the characters are all believable, and the reader wants to stay. Enjoy!

I simply loved this book. The author does such a good job of helping the reader to understand every aspect of the situation and the love and desperation that the situation brings with it. I loved Louisa and I loved Will and Nathan. I would recommend this book to anyone. I am already missing all of the characters and imagining where they go next.

I loved this book! I loved this book! I loved this book! The story is beautiful and sad and horrific. It is a necessary book in its details of the Holocaust, the realness of the Holocaust. It is also beautiful in its telling of those who managed to escape and live their lives in safety... but their loss and their joy is so clear to the reader that you no longer view them as "lucky", they just suffered differently. I listened to it in one day... not talking to anyone while listening. Rewinding when I reached the end to hear the beginning again. This is a beautifully narrated story and so worth reading. Brava!!

I know we all know people who are in trouble and in denial about their troubles. Hildy is one of those people. I so enjoyed being in her head and understanding what made her tick. Her justifications for everything. It is true... she wants MORE. She is too aware of appearances and misses the things that are most valued in life. I loved this book. I loved Hildy. The narration is excellent.

I almost didn't buy this book - I am tired of Picoult's formula writing. This book is so beautifully told, so beautifully written. It is a must read for everyone. I expect to request that my children read it when they are older. It tells of horror and the will to survive. It is one of the best "fictional" books of a terrible time in our world that I have ever read.
The narration is beautiful. The story is believable. The facts are well researched. You cannot stop listening....

This book is both fascinating and fast moving. Truly, I could not put it down! Eban Alexander's story is so vivid in his telling. It is even more riveting because as a neurosurgeon he has been trained not to believe what he experienced. A wonderful story about an amazing man's journey to the afterlife and back. You will want to listen to it again and give it to those who you love.

I like Emily Giffin's books. They are fun and the characters are people we remember from her other books. But this one falls short. There was nothing enjoyable here. The author does a good job at explaining the cattiness of suburbia - but I didn't buy the story line.

I just didn't LOVE it! I usually love Emily Giffin... the character development builds and all of the little side stories create a big, beautiful story. That still happens here, but I didn't find myself caring.
The story fills the time and is good if you are driving... but really, her newer works are better.

My friend ended up getting divorced because of this book. Hmmmm... what could be so powerful that my friend could decide to end a 15 year marriage??
Gretchen Rubin does a great job of telling her story of trying to be happier by changing little things in her life - making a list of promises to herself. Things that she will work on. It is HER project and she is very clear that what works for her may not bring you happiness. But she also points out that we are all different and our happiness needs are different.
I was worried that I would not want to finish this book. But I did and I feel that I learned a lot about how I approach my own life. Gretchen Rubin and I may not have the same needs for happiness, but I appreciated her list and her self-awareness of her own behavior and how that might effect the happiness of the people around her and ultimately her own happiness.

The story jumps around from the past to the present.... I got the feeling that the author had an idea, wrote it down and then declared it "finished". Sometimes I just felt that I must have missed something... what/who were they talking about??? I never cared for the characters and was listening because I had seen it marked with FIVE STARS. Really??? I think I am generous with my 2 star rating.
