Michael Peterson was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, a candidate for mayor and a New York Times best-selling novelist. His wife Kathleen was the first woman ever admitted to the Duke University School of Engineering, a brilliant executive and a loving and fun-filled mother-the last woman who one would expect to become a victim in her own home.

Very interesting crime novel. Saw the story on ID, which I found interesting, but the detail in the book makes it a great story. Highly recommend the narrator!
Note to author: Granniss is excellent - your other narrators ... Cyndee Maxwell and Shelby must have been cheap b/c they are the pits!

In the polygamous Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS), girls can become valuable property as plural wives, but boys are expendable, even a liability. In this powerful and heartbreaking account, former FLDS member Brent Jeffs reveals both the terror and the love he experienced growing up on his prophet's compound and the harsh exile existence that so many boys face once they have been expelled by the sect.

What would have made Lost Boy better?

I found the book quite good through the first half. But then I became bored and had to stop before I started screaming at the "Lost Boy." Too much redundancy.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator's voice sounds as if he is or could be the Lost Boy.

The killer escapes. Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend AND an enemy. It's not that super Stephen King scary book I've mostly seen. It's an intelligent police procedural.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Oh, heck, yeah, I was on the edge of my seat, wondering what was just around the corner.

Which character – as performed by Will Patton – was your favorite?

    Mr. Mercedes, of course.

Who was the most memorable character of Mr. Mercedes and why?

Mr. Mercedes is so creepy - but not over-the-top weird.

It was just another day on the job for 53-year-old Richard Phillips, captain of the Maersk Alabama, a United States-flagged cargo ship that was carrying, among other things, food and agricultural materials for the World Food Program. That all changed when armed Somali pirates boarded the ship.

What did you love best about A Captain's Duty?

I loved the adventure and the personalities of EVERY character! A little bit too much bragging at times by Capt. Phillips but he certainly deserves a fan club, of which I'm a member.

Well worth a credit or the highest charge on Audible.

The night after the fourth of July, Layton Carlson, Jr., of Red Wing, Minnesota, finally got lucky. And unlucky.

He’d picked the perfect spot to lose his virginity to his girlfriend, an abandoned farmyard in the middle of cornfields: nice, private, and quiet. The only problem was...something smelled bad - like, really bad. He mentioned it to a county deputy he knew, and when the cop took a look, he found a body stuffed down a cistern. And then another, and another. By the time Lucas Davenport was called in, the police were up to 15 bodies and counting.

If you could sum up Doing Harm in three words, what would they be?

    Thriller, twisted, riveting.

What did you like best about this story?

Most of all, I appreciated the narrator. I'm quite narrator "picky," and Petkoff did not disappoint. The marriage of a good story and competent narrator is a beautiful thing.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    Spoiler? Oh, I'll never tell!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    IDK

    Any additional comments?

The writing is somewhat similar to that of Michael Palmer, whose work I admire.

A compendium of witches through the ages, from earliest prehistory to some of the most significant modern practitioners, The Weiser Field Guide to Witches explores who, and what, a witch is. From such famed historical legends as Aleister Crowley, Marie Laveau, and Elizabeth Báthory to the popular literary and cinematic figures Harry Potter and the Wicked Witch of the West, Illes offers a complete range of the history of witches. Included also are the sacred - sis, Hekate, Aradia - and the profane - the Salem Witch Trials and The Burning Times.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, well spent b/c the subject matter was unlike any I had been previously exposed to.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Dump the caffeine high of the narrator.

How could the performance have been better?

A narrator who didn't speed throughout the book. Had to listen on "slow" speed, which distorted the quality and certainly was extremely annoying.

Did The Weiser Field Guide to Witches inspire you to do anything?

    Nope.

    Any additional comments?

    Nope.

The decision to publish the book has been very difficult, and taken with heavy hearts... My reason for writing it is simple: to give an account of the truth... Writing this memoir has entailed recording some very personal, intimate and emotional aspects of our lives. Sharing these with strangers does not come easily to me, but if I hadn't done so I would not have felt the book gave as full a picture as it is possible for me to give.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Absolutely not. The main protagonist, the mother of the kidnapped gift, whines and complains that the local police didn't do enough to find her daughter. The mother made the decision that leaving her children alone in a resort villa was okay b/c, after all, she wanted to dine and drink with other vacationers. I was so disgusted by the mother's behavior I couldn't finish the book.

If you’ve listened to books by Kate McCann before, how does this one compare?

Haven't previously been subjected to this whining, "feel sorry for me" narrator.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kate McCann (introduction) and Lesley Sharp ?

    IDK.

What else would you have wanted to know about Kate McCann’s life?

WHY the selfish, useless "mother" abandoned her children for a good meal in a restaurant.

    Any additional comments?

What parent would leave sleeping children to dine out? Seriously, why weren't this young girl's parents jailed?

This edition of Three Shots Rang Out: The JFK Assassination 50 Years Later is an audio-only ABC News special created exclusively for Audible and hosted by ABC World News Anchor Diane Sawyer. Sawyer takes listeners back to Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963, for a “you are there” exploration of the day of U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Listening to Three Shots Rang Out was not only a waste of time but painful as I had to bite down on aluminum foil just to the very beginning of this book.

Would you recommend Free: Three Shots Rang Out - The JFK Assassination 50 Years Later to your friends? Why or why not?

Absolutely not. Aluminum foil on fillings is quite painful.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Only that the book was so crappy I doubted the sincerity of Diane Sawyer's narration, though I otherwise am an avid Sawyer fan.

Did Free: Three Shots Rang Out - The JFK Assassination 50 Years Later inspire you to do anything?

Just to stop and delete the book and regret the monetary investment.

    Any additional comments?

Darren Reynolds just give up writing and take up dentistry.
