Sinclair Lewis' fantastic drama of an religious anti-hero is super relevant today. He's such a despicable and appealing character, brought to life by the fabulous narration. I loved every minute of it.
I recommended this to people before I finished reading it. The narration was fantastic and the writing so vivid and accurate. Anyone who has spent any time on the North Shore will identify the characters drawn in the book. Hildy...oh to see Meryl Streep play her.
I just finished 11-22-63 and wasn't expecting the old Steve King. Horrible evil characters with poison running through their veins instead of blood. Big Jim is beyond awful. It took me a while to get used to the narrator. Craig Wasson, who did 11-22-63, is so terrific. It was hard to hear Raul's Maine accent. And his French accent! But I stuck with it and got addicted to the terror. A good yarn.
People must have thought I was a crazy person - while I listened to this sharp, strange novel about a lazy egomanic I was laughing out loud. On the subway. On the street. In stores. The narrator and the novel are hilarious!
