Cy Judge says: "A great audio book"
    "Excellent book"
    Overall

This is the second James Clavell book I've read, the first being the excellent Shogun.

You'll really love the references to all the places in Hong Kong if you've lived there. But even if you have no idea about HK, Clavell creates wonderful characters who each stand on their own.

The narration is excellent, especially since the narrator manages to use the dialects and mannerisms of the various classes/ethnicities with so much feeling.

In this exciting new audio, Peter L. Bernstein tells the story of history's most coveted, celebrated, and inglorious asset: gold.

Edmund W. Cheung says: "Interesting economic history lesson"
    "Boring"
    Overall

I was expecting to listen to something in the genre of Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcast, but was sorely disappointed as the writing and the narration both drag and despite best efforts, I wasn't able to finish listening to this one
