I thought I knew so much about these two, and this era. It was interesting to bring more clarity to the times they lived in. But the greater gift here is Patti Smiths' clear, poetic telling of this deep intimate, artistic relationship. It's wonderful to hear it in her voice. It's just beautiful.
The story moved along well. I was always interested in starting my car, and hearing what was next. Her other book about Alice (In Wonderland) is as good or even better.
The narrator took me a little while to warm up to, but then I liked him a lot. Subtle, good accents. It was wonderful hearing the letters that Richard wrote to Elizabeth, some of them even written when she was in the same room or suite. Enjoyed it.
DC was poorly written, but the story was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. Same writing, weak story.
The narrator is reading this book as if it was a childrens book. All of the voices and accents are over the top. I'm not sure if 'll be able to finish it. The preview doesn't give a good idea of these voices.
I just didn't get into this book at all, and gave up on it. Maybe I'll give it another try in the future.
