Stayed up til after 2 a.m. to finish it in one day. Wonderful love story.

One of my favorite reads, this story is the sequel to Lady Sophia's Lover, which I didn't know at the time I listened to it. It didn't matter: it is a superb "read". However, since Sophia's Lover is also a "must have" book, I'd listen to it first if you are new to the series. The characters are all strong and well developed, with several great sub-plots. Sophia, Sir Ross and the Bow Street Runners reappear, as well as the Earl of Westfall from earlier books. And then there are the dark, evil characters from Lotty's past which have to be dealt with. Nick's redemption, through Lotty's love, is wonderful, and actually believable. The sex scenes are gentle and funny, but HOT! As an historical novel, Kleypas does a terrific job of painting a picture of life in mid-1800's London. Susan Duerden is wonderful as a narrator, as always. You don't want to miss this series!

Of the 4 books in the series I liked this one the best. Interesting plot, and strong, positive characters. Truly sizziling sex scenes! Simon Preble is great, as always. You don't need to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. It's good enough I had to stop housework to listen to it.

I bought this book at the recommendation of others on this site who claimed the third and last book in the series was better than the other two, including "wonderful" and " a great wurprising and warm ending." To me, it was as bad as the others: NO PLOT, repetitive debates of "does he really love me or not", and the noble Earl debating how he can save his clan and save the reputation of Angelica. The dialogue between the lovers and the love scenes are boring with little dynamics or passion. The first 5 hours or so revolve around trying to decide how to get out of London without being caught. Meanwhile Angelica who has found her "hero" - no reason given other than she has the magic necklace around her neck -- and agrees to cooperate with the Earl, won't agree to marry the Earl, but still spends the time redecorating his London house and polishing his silver. Then the next 5 hours or so are spent traveling to the castle, looking at maps, staying in inns and trying to decide whether to sleep together. The scene when they finally have sex together is so stupid: She surpirses him by showing up naked in his bed and then proceeds to give him a multi-point speech about why they should have sex. Only the last couple hours, of this very long book, deal with the crazy mother and why she wants revenge against the Cynsters, and the final wrap-up of the series. Stephanie Laurens has been one of my favorite authors, but this series has been truly awful! The series is nothing like the earlier Cynster novels with fasinating plots and characters. It makes me wonder if I'll ever buy another book by Laurens.

This is one of Stephanie Laurens best books! In my top 5 of romance books. Never a dull or slow moment, as in some of her other books. The characters and little sub-plots are wonderful The Grand Dames are hysterical! Hammish, Royce's half-brother, is great too, as are Royce's sisters. The book paints a delightful picture of life on the castle estate with Royce's handling of situations showing a different, softer, side of Royce. The sex scenes are sizzling, and the dialogue and dynamics between the lovers is some of Laurens' best.

Laurens brings in many of the characters in the series, as well as reveals who the Last Traitor is. It would be best if one had read the other books in the series first, although the love story is strong enough, the book would still be great as a stand-alone. Part of the fun of the book, however, comes from knowing Royce's personality and history, as well as the wrap-up of the Last Traitor sub-plot. Without having read the other books, it would be hard to understand this part of the story.

Crossley does a good job with the narration, but the female voices are not as good as Simon Preble's. I particuarly didn't like Minerva's voice (the lead female character), but after awhile you get used to it.

The book is compelling and a super read! I had read the book before listening to the audio, but still stayed up half the night not able to take a break. Get this one, you won't be dissapointed.

Absolutely. Have listened several times already. A great, funny, wonderfully fascinating romantic book, with the disapproving mother-of-the-duke, and all. The characters are great with multiple twists in the plot. In the beginning, and most of the way through, you just can't figure out how all the twists will come out. The ending part was a little slow, but it was necessary to bring all the pieces together. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars out of 5.

She is just wonderful. Makes the different characters come alive. This was my first book by this author, but I bought the book half because Susan Duerden was the narrarator. She's one on the best!

This was my first book by Eloisa James. I'm definitely buying some more books by her.

Senuous, Captivating, Unpredictable.

Fast-paced, with many unexpected twists in the plot. Loved the main charcters, as well as the minor characters which keeps the reader engaged throughout.

Ross probably. However Sophia is also a great character, which is why the book is so great. Both of them are fascinating and likeable, so as a couple they are great! Also, Klepass knows how to stretch out the sexual tension, without being crude. Susan Dueden is great at the narrration, and adds much to the sexual tension.

I'm not sure who would like this book. The plot is almost the same as the first in the series, Viscount Brekinridge to the Rescue. A lord from the North kidnaps a Cynster female to take her back to the castle; then a dashing man from the ton recuses her and the Lord follows to make sure the man is honorable and that the kidnap didn't ruin her. They look over the map and try to find ways to escape the Lord believing he will harm them. At least Breckenridge had an interesting character and a better plot. In Eliza the couple actually wants to get married and everybody else doesn't think they should. This is truly a stupid book!

No. I love historical, regency romance and I love Stephanie Laurens, but if she continues to do series like this one, I'll never buy another one of her books. I can't imagine what she was thinking.

Well, maybe it's more that the story / script / dialogue is so stupid. Probably not a good book in which to rate Brenher

Anger that I wasted the money to buy it. Severe disappointment.
