Miranda Cheever has been blessed with many things, but great beauty is not among them. Still, when she meets Viscount Tuner, she knows she is meant for him. As the years go by, fate is as kind to Miranda as it is harsh on the Viscount. He's skeptical about love with good reason - but he may be falling for Miranda

Teresa says: "Light and fun romance."
"Can't wait for the next one!"

I thought this book was great! For once, the leading lady was not the perfect picture, but a real person that I could relate to. Turner was angry, but it was never depressing for me. It was interesting to see his process through this. The author explored the depth of both characters feelings and personalities and I came to like them both very much. I am a huge fan of the Bridgerton series, and I thought this was a unique and satisfying expression of her genre. This is my first one outside of that series and I can't wait for the next one!

In this sizzling tale, young Miles Cavanagh becomes the improbable guardian to Felicity Monahan, a wealthy, headstrong heiress who seems set on marrying an unscrupulous cad who clearly only wants to wed Felicity for one reason - and that reason is not love.

Julie says: "Loved the story but the reader drove me nuts"
"Characters lacked usual depth for a Beverly novel"
    Overall

In this book, the characters I have loved in the Company of Rogues were written with very superficial dialogue and the entire love story was boring, sappy, and never developed beyond a sexual interest. I never understood why Miles loved Felicity as she behaved a spoiled brat the entire novel (though I could not make it through the last 2 hours) and Miles only thoughts were of her body, because there was nothing developed about the rest of her except she is very stubborn and causes trouble like a child. I did not care what happened with them, and even the Rogues I loved spoke in silly and syrupy dialogue. It is the lack of this silliness as the core of a romance novel that sets Jo Beverly apart. It is my opinion that she usually puts character development and a real love story, with a plot that is unique, as the primary drive for her work. The men of the Company of Rogues are delightful, funny, very intelligent and their friendships are satisfying, but not in this one. The whole plot was drivel for me. But I recommend Jo Beverly and if this was your first read, try An Arranged Marriage. The Story of Eleanor and Nicholas is one that still makes me smile.

Nestled in the lush Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, the town of Big Stone Gap has been home for Ave Maria Mulligan Machesney and her family for generations. She's been married to her beloved Jack for nearly 20 years, raised one child and buried another, and run a business that binds her community together, all while holding her tight circle of family and friends close.

    Patricia says: "Where's Adriana?"
"Different narrator changed the whole feel"
    Overall

I absolutely love Cassandra Campbell which is why I decided to buy this 4th in the series with her narration. I had no idea how much Trigiani's twangy voice and upbeat energy and even the little bit of music was so much a part of these characters for me. I listened for an hour, but I deeply missed Ave Maria's voice from the first 3 books, so I gave it up and bought her version. I want to get the most out of this delightful series. I reiterate, I am someone who searches under Cassandra Campbell because I enjoy her narration, but it just did not work for me here. I highly recommend her reading of Trigiani's Queen of the Big Time. It was great!
