This book has a lot of history surrounding the movement and beginning of Civil Rights. I grew up in Florida and was not aware of the many criminal activities that played into Civil Rights that happened here.
I was not impressed with the narrator. Being a native Floridian I was disappointed how Mr. James mis-pronounced several cities in Florida. Umatilla and Tavares are two of them that stick out in my mind. I wish he had researched the proper way to pronounce these names before narrating. Also, when changing characters I think it would have been better to have added another narrator.
The horrible treatment of those that were falsely accused of rape.
Most definitely! Being a Southern gal I can relate to most of the story line. It had me in stitches one moment and almost in tears the next!
I adored Aunt Tuti and Oletta!
No, this is my first.
Oletta. I just adored her in this story.
Sacrifice, embrace, love.
The ending! I won't reveal but have some tissues handy.
Everything! Very good narration.
I loved the description of Alaskan terrain and the idea of living there during this era.
The Ice Maiden.
A very interesting story about a young mother who was left by her husband to raise a daughter and two sons in a time when separation was not the norm.
The narrator was fantastic!
Yes. It has a great storyline and makes one think.
I totally enjoyed the narration of this story. Very enjoyable.
Enjoyed the part of Mrs. Lindbergh's first flight. The author made it very entertaining and one could only imagine what it must have felt like in a time when aviation was being introduced to the world!
Mrs. Raver brought a lot of emotion to this book. I would love to read other novels she has narrated.
Yes, I wanted to cry when I reached the end of this book. It gave me an utmost respect for Mrs. Lindbergh.
I enjoyed the story of the struggle of an elderly, alcoholic woman. You can actually understand her side and the way she sees things as she deals with the struggle of having to have another drink. The narration was excellent and I will gladly listen to any other book from this narrator.
The story connects you to Zelda Fitzgerald and leaves you wanting to read more even when it ends. I never re-read books however; I can see myself re-reading this one.
I just adored the narrator for this book. She nailed all the characters very well. I am now searching for more of her narrations.
