This story had an interesting premise and I wanted to know how it worked itself out. It's a Jack Reacher novel. He is an interesting character. I'm not sure what's missing for me but I keep trying to really love this series, but am unable to. I recently read one and I liked reading it better than listening. I know several folks who love this series.

I think Dick Hill does fine with the male voices. However, all the women sound a bit dumb and like they have a New Jersey accent or something. I found the pacing of their voices odd and hard to differentiate and always on the same level: same inflection, slow, and after a short period of time, annoying.

I enjoyed this book. I like the device of letters being written back and forth. It was quite interesting, learning of the Guernsey Islands and their struggle during WWII. Good characters, a bit of romance, time well spent.

I love to listen to these Odd Thomas books. The narrator is perfect. What's so good about them? For me it's the sweetness and the philosophy of Odd. The wacky situations are like a B movie device to showcase Odd's lovely humanity and depth. I just go with the flow of it and enjoy being in Odd's company.

This book was an ordeal to get through. Very disturbing. I must admit I listened to the entire book and when it ended so WRONG (from my perspective) I was very sorry I invested all that time. Maybe you have to be 13 to enjoy it. I really don't know.

This sort of book is not my usual cup of tea. However, recently I listened to "You're Next" and it had me on the edge of my seat. When I started this one, I could not even believe it was the same reader. I like Scott Brick. But in this book he sounds so whiney.

What's nice is that it all the details get sorted out. It's just too unbelievable for my taste.
For me it was a trial to get through it.

This book is so inventive, thought provoking, scary, dreamlike and funny that I had to give it a 5.
The narration by George Guidall is pure genius!
I'm perplexed by the negative reviews regarding swear words and sex: very little of either and all part of the larger story. I'm sure it's not for everyone but if you're up for something quirky and captivating, give it a listen.
I'm going to see what else George Guidall has read. AMAZING!

There is much to recommend this book. I found the story surrounding China and the situation Chinese immigrants found themselves in most compelling. Being from the Los Angeles area, I liked all the details about life in downtown. I loved the exploration of the relationship of the sisters.
All that being said, the ending was not satisfying. In fact, the last part of the book seemed to loose energy. Worth a listen, certainly. I give it a 4 because it made me think of many things.

This book is many mysteries in one. The characters are fascinating and the reader perfect. I actually listened to it twice. The second time was even better as I knew who all the characters were. Looking forward to listening to Book 2 in the series.
