2057. Humanity has raised exploiting the solar system to an art form. Bella Lind and the crew of her nuclear-powered ship, the Rockhopper, push ice. They mine comets. And they're good at it. The Rockhopper is nearing the end of its current mission cycle, and everyone is desperate for some much-needed R & R, when startling news arrives from Saturn: Janus, one of Saturn's ice moons, has inexplicably left its natural orbit and is now heading out of the solar system at high speed.

Without doubt, Pushing Ice is the best book I have listened to by Reynolds. The book is exciting, interesting, and imaginative. Even though the book is long [3 parts] it will hold your attention throughout. If you only listen to one book by this author, this is the one you want to choose. It is his best work..

Revered mystery writer Josephine Tey is traveling from Scotland to London for the final week of her play Richard of Bordeaux, the surprise hit of the season, with pacifist themes that resonate in a world still haunted by war. But joy turns to horror when her arrival coincides with the murder of a young woman she had befriended on the train ride - and Tey is plunged into a mystery as puzzling as any in her own works.

What made the experience of listening to An Expert in Murder the most enjoyable?

Davina Porter made the listening experience marvellous. She has a tremendous repertoire of voices and accents. When the characters were in Scotland I felt like we were on the streets of Edinburgh.

What was one of the most memorable moments of An Expert in Murder?

A memorable moment is when the female victim returns to the train to collect her belongings. I won't say more because I don't want to spoil the experience or the scene.

What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?

As I said above, I liked everything about her performance but I especially like the accents.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't know if "moved" is the right term but there are many, many exciting scenes.

    Any additional comments?

Superbly written and superbly delivered. If you like crime mystery you will not go wrong with this book.

Five short novels by five masters of military science fiction. It’s a war out there. In these pulse-pounding tales, the best (or worst) soldiers in the galaxy are pitted against powerful aliens on distant battlefields. Never-before-published stories about monsters, deadly combat tech, treachery, and honor.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, This is the best compilation of cyborg and military sci-fi I have yet listened to. I love both and this book puts them together in five exciting yet unique stories.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Five by Five?

I think the most memorable moment was in the first book where the protagonist is about to be crushed by a giant. When I was listening I thought I had bought the wrong book. Based on the first few lines, I thought the books would turn out to be fantasy which I dislike. However, there was a pause when the reader said let me explain how we got to this situation. From then on, the book was complete "on the edge of your seat" excitement.

What about Phil Gigante’s performance did you like?

The narrator was perfect for this series of stories. He has the exact pitch and tenor to make the stories interesting and easy to listen to.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Cyborgs in the 23rd century

    Any additional comments?

I usually don't like compilations but you would miss a great book if you passed this one by.

A killer stalks the city of San Diego, brutally slaying women on the fringes of society. The body of a young woman torn apart in her bedroom makes even the hardened detectives of the San Diego PD's Homicide Unit tremble with disgust and rage. For SDPD homicide detective Jon Stanton, the young woman is more than just another case. His former partner, Eli Sherman, was the original detective assigned to the case - before he was discovered to be one of San Diego's most ruthless serial killers.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Jon Stanton is a reluctant police officer with strong moral fiber and a PhD in Psychology; not a combination likely to make him popular. The department he works in is rife with corruption at the same time a serial killer(s) set up shop in his town. He uncovers the corruption, maintains his integrity despite repeated attempts at compromise, but puts those around him at great risk. It is a fascinating ending for an unusual police story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

yes, with the twists and turns the author wove into a very believable story about an individual who had strong moral conviction and very poor financial security.

Have you listened to any of Wayne Farrell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    no

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book made me not want to shut it off until the end.

It is Halloween night, and the local museum in King's Lynn is preparing for an unusual event - the opening of a coffin containing the bones of a medieval bishop. But when Ruth Galloway arrives to supervise, she finds the museum's curator lying dead beside the coffin. It is only a matter of time before she and DI Nelson cross paths once more, as he is called in to investigate. Soon the museum's wealthy owner lies dead in his stables, too. These two deaths could be from natural causes - but Nelson isn't convinced.

I was very impressed by the narrator. Ms. McDowell made this book great with her reading of a room full of bones. One of the best books I have had the pleasure of listening to this year. I look forward to other books in this series and I hope to find others that Ms. McDowell narrates.

Niven has outdone himself. This is an excellent listen. It is a "gamers in space" book and caused me to think of the movie TRON. At any rate, you will enjoy the game overlaid with the game overlaid with the game and all of it happens on the moon. What is real and what is not? You will enjoy listening and trying to figure out the answer to that question along with the characters in the story.

Without giving away the plot, the book is a little confusing at the outset. However, stick with it and all will become clear. I thought the author could have provided more details regarding his description of futuristic objects and events. I found it difficult to visualize some of the things in the book. However, the shortcoming was more than offset by the imagination of the author and the flow of the action. A good listen.

Defining Diana is a hybrid, a mixture of mystery and SciFi. The mixture is about 70% mystery and 30% SciFi. If you like these type hybrids, then this is a great book. It is set in the future where there are a mix of cyborgs and humans. However, the book spends most of its time working out the details of a mystery. If you like those type books, you will like this one; if you are looking for a SciFi book you may be disappointed.
