Mad! Impossible world! Sun-blasted by day, cold-wracked by night - and life condensed by radiation into eight days! Sim eyed the Ship - if he only dared reach it and escape! ... but it was more than half an hour distant - perhaps the limit of life itself! From the author of Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles and The Illustrated Man. Originally published in the Fall 1946 issue of Planet Stories. It was later reprinted under the title Frost and Fire.

Very entertaining for a quick science fiction fix. And Ray Bradbury is a wonderful author!

After leaving Society and desperately searching for the Rising Cassia and Ky have found what they were looking for, but at the cost of losing each other yet again: Cassia has been assigned to work for the Rising from within Society, while Ky has been stationed outside its borders. In this gripping conclusion to the Matched Trilogy, Cassia will reconcile the difficulties of challenging a life too confining, seeking a freedom she never dreamed possible, and honoring a love she cannot live without.

The first book, Matched, is great! The second book, Crossed, is slow, but seems to be building to an exciting third and final book. Unfortunately, that is not what this book delivered. Instead of an action packed conclusion, what I got was added confusion and lack of momentum. This book was simultaneously "all over the place" and stagnant. Some of the concepts related to the plague, the cure, and the statistical sorting were interesting, but all these components did not come together very neatly in the end. The conclusion of this book was trying very hard to wrap everything up, but I felt like there was some vital component of the story still missing. And I agree with another reviewer in that I also would have liked a little more insight into the enemy. Overall, I was disappointed with this book.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

Great combination of some of my favorite things! If you love 80's pop culture, video games of any kind, and/or books that take place in a dark future world, this book is for you! I was highly entertained and the story hooked me. Play on, player!

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Jane Sagan: Soldier. Killer. Lover. Dreamer. In John Scalzi's best-selling Old Man's War series of science-fiction novels, we see this warrior woman as the other characters see her - silent and strong, from the outside. But now The Sagan Diary shows us Sagan from another point of view: her own, as she prepares to leave military life and join her new husband and adopted daughter on a colony world.

Robert says: "Nothing like Scalzi's old man's war."

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

If this book weren't free, I would ask for a refund. MAYBE if you've read his other works, it might make more sense, but it's not a good listen if you're not familiar with this particular character, Jane Sagan, from his other books. I got through 2 chapters and then stopped.
