"Simply Outstanding - Long, But Worth Every Minute"
This audiobook is one of the best ever. The narrator was simply wonderful. I listened at 1.5x playback speed, which for me was perfect.
There is simply nothing better than a great narrator reading a wonderful book to you!
Robert Caro is a master author.
This book should be required reading in college political science classes as a classic study of political power. Moses' life spanned decades during critical development of NYC. Moses was good and bad.
If you are a New Yorker or visit New York City often, this book is a must. And, if you just like a damn good story, this is it.
"Interesting Book about Post 9/11 Events"
Very interesting book on Post-9/11 Washington. Eye opening and an easy read and listen (I read it on Kindle also).
This book will make you think whether you are a Neo-Con or a Dove.
I must say that I was a supporter of the Iraq War and the renditions, but have been rethinking all of these issues. This book excels at bringing events together that were happening all over the world at the same time. That is why I would recommend this title.
I also enjoyed the narrator.
Also, Mr. Eichenwald gave interviews after this book was released, so search for him on YouTube. His comments on the book provide more insight.
"Mathias Bossi is the Boss! Wow!"
OK, this book is interesting. Another mob has-been cashing-in on his life of crime. Tawdry at times but apparently brutally honest, which I liked.
What I really loved about this audiobook was the narrator! He is simply marvelous! It was like having the gangster himself telling me his story!
The accent, the speed of his delivery, everything was fantastic.
The story is good, kinda crazy, and Bossi's narration makes this book a must-have!
I loved it!
"Interesting History of Fort Worth"
I grew up in Fort Worth, am a history buff, but had never heard of J. Frank Norris. I ran across this book and listened to it. The first part of the book was fascinating for me - the history of Fort Worth in the early 1900's through the 1920's, but I'm not sure how interesting this book would be to those not familiar with Fort Worth.
The story of J. Frank Norris is certainly interesting, and the murder itself and the resulting trial are somewhat interesting, but there was something missing in the story.
Sometimes it seemed the author strayed into details that weren't really relevant, and the case itself as a legal matter was not that interesting compared to others. The only real unique aspect about it was Frank's notoriety at the time and the others in Fort Worth that were peripherally involved in the case. - for example, the victim was a good friend of Mayor Meacham and Mayor Meacham hired some special prosecutors to help prosecute Norris.
I applaud the author for his work because I certainly learned a lot I did not know. If you are from the DFW area, you will find this book interesting. If not, I am not so sure.
"Outstanding! I loved it!"
I loved the story and the narration was outstanding. I loved the character readers. I did not want this book to end! This was my first Audible book, Awesome!
