"What information?"
The main character is an Angelina Jolie, kick-butt, type, which is okay but the whole thing came off as forced. Trying too hard. A different narrator may have made the story better but even the story itself didn't hold water for me. The romance between the main character and her mentor falls flat, the terrible accent of the narrator plus the monotone she uses made this hard to finish. By the end, I didn't care what happened to the person they were searching for.
"Should have been a movie"
I agree with the previous reviewer who said this book was like a screen play. Heavy on the dialog, it places the action in the background. I ended up skipping to the end (something I never do) after two-thirds of the way in. I just couldn't take the boring speeches by the victim's father, who figures heavily in the plot line. The ending was also very anti-climatic, much like The Wire.
"Pretty good"
This book had some spots where the monologue goes on and on and I had to skip through it. Otherwise, I would reccommend it. My only critique is the Dominican (spanish) accent the narrator botches horribly. He sounds like Count Dracula as opposed to an uptown Dominican.
"Not worth the time"
Okay, I finished the audiobook and it wasn't half as good as My sister's keeper. I found it meandering and flat overall. The 'surprise' ending was a bust and the characters not very sympathetic.
"UNREADABLE and unreturnable"
Is it just me? It is just me...okay, I know it must be. This was the most boring audio I downloaded in almost two years. NOTHING HAPPENS for at least an hour except her hanging out shooting the breeze with friends and family. The worst part is because I was out of credits and in the mood for some chick lit, I actually paid extra for this...this...AAARRGGHH!! I'm losing faith in customer reviews
"Reader ruined it for me"
Two minutes into this audiobook I had to stop listening. The reader's breathing, gulping and pauses proved way too distracting. Never mind the delivery which was so monotone I wondered if she was bored with the story herself.Hopefully I can go back to it later and listen on my computer as opposed to my Otis where the sound is right up against my ear. My fault for not sampling first. Lesson learned.
