I enjoyed this book. The narration was very good. While it involved elements of WWI it was more of a human story, not a war story. The story involved topics there were not talked about in the open in 1919 - 1920. Very interesting.
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of character development and plot that went into this short story erotica. And it was all done w/o the "F" word. Kudos to the author. The narrator did all the voices quite well especially the male and female main characters. I don't usually re-listen to stories but I think after awhile I might give this one a re-listen. The plot and narrator were that good. Well done.
This book is just over 11.5 hrs. In my opinion it should have been edited down. It was too long. I think some writers write a bunch of extra words just because they can and thus make what could have been a really good tight story a long and windy story. Where are the editors? The narrator is good.
This book started interestingly enough but it eventually became slow and boring. The characters, especially one of them, became caricatures. I could only finish Part 1 and then I had enough. I believe I could predict what was going to happen and how it was going to end. The narrator was good. She is probably the reason I hung in there as long as I did.
This was a very well written, well narrated story. It starts slow but it is worth the wait to hang in there until things get going. I don't like to give s synopsis of the story because you can read the summary on the Audible page. I would categorize this as psychological suspense. The author takes her time in revealing intermittent surprises but she keeps the story interesting along the way for the most part. I am one who doesn't have much patience for a boring story. I have returned more than a couple of books because I could not get into them. I did not return this one. I would recommend it slow start and all.
I really enjoyed this book. It took me a little while to get into it. Just when I was going to quit it, it got interesting and I was hooked from that point on. Really hooked. I don't need to give a synopsis, you can read the summary on Audible to find out what the book is about. It is well written and well narrated. I recommend it. I tried the sequel, i.e. "The Crooked Maid", but I felt the narrator was wrong and therefore could not get into it. I like Kate Reading as a narrator ordinarily (she narrates "The Crooked Maid") but I didn't think her voice fit that novel. One of the main characters is a German woman and I just don't associate her voice with that accent. I would have preferred Suzanne Bertish who narrated "City of Women", another really good book.
This author didn't over do it by overwriting. This book was just right. Narration could not be better. This is in the category of psychological suspense, my favorite. I highly recommend.
This story goes back and forth from 1916 while the 1st person narrator in the story is serving in the war and 1919 after he is out and visiting a sister of a friend from the war. The actual audio narrator is very good. The story is engrossing. I usually don't like stories that go back and forth between time periods but this one is good and the time periods are not that far apart. I recommend this book. Also, I don't usually care for war novels. This one I was able to handle as it was more about relationships and less about day to day war although it did describe what it was like for the soldiers to be at war and the things they were going through.
Jennifer Wiltsie did a fantastic job narrating this story. The story itself one must suspend belief that the main character can be so gullible but then some stories I read in the news about people make me think it's probably possible she could let herself be strung along.
I think many people would enjoy this book especially with the great narration. I did listen to the end without regrets that I had purchased it but it's one of those books that as soon as it was done I was beginning to forget what it was about.
I had no idea about all of the things I learned about Ben Frank in this book. It was interesting, entertaining and educational all at the same time. I recommend this book.
I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed the story very much. The narration was very good.
