Lunacy was Nate Burke's last chance. As a Baltimore cop, he'd watched his partner die on the street - and the guilt still haunts him. With nowhere else to go, he accepts the job as chief of police in this tiny, remote Alaskan town. Aside from sorting out a run-in between a couple of motor vehicles and a moose, he finds his first few weeks on the job are relatively quiet. But that's about to change.

I've read Nora Roberts on and off for over 30 years. I been listening to books on cds for a few years, going to and from work, and loved the experience of a good book being read to
me. Nora doesn't write bad books so any book she writes is a good read/listen. I am never disappointed in a woman's book being read by a man and this is not exception. Gary was great.

Wayward Pines, Idaho, is quintessential small-town America — or so it seems. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arrives in search of two missing federal agents, yet soon is facing much more than he bargained for. After a violent accident lands him in the hospital, Ethan comes to with no ID and no cell phone. The medical staff seems friendly enough, but something feels…off. As the days pass, Ethan’s investigation into his colleagues’ disappearance turns up more questions than answers. Why can’t he make contact with his family in the outside world? Why doesn’t anyone believe he is who he says he is? And what’s the purpose of the electrified fences encircling the town? Are they keeping the residents in? Or something else out? Each step toward the truth takes Ethan further from the world he knows, until he must face the horrifying possibility that he may never leave Wayward Pines alive…

This is another bargain I tried, this is how I try other authors. This is a sitting on the edge of your seat read (audible). I found myself about half the way thru trying to figure out how it would end. There is so much action that it wore me out. I wondered is there no end to what the main character goes thru? I find that as of late I have been picking up many of this type of book, action, action and more action and not always getting anywhere.
I did enjoy the book and the performance. I was going to go on to the next book but found out there was going to be a series and opted for that instead. Don't get me wrong and gave it high marks, but I am 75 and need to balance some of my reading, listening.

Thanks to a heart transplant, former FBI agent Terrell McCaleb is enjoying a quiet retirement, renovating the fishing boat he lives on in Los Angeles Harbor. But McCaleb's calm seas turn choppy when a story in the "What Happened To?" column of the LA Times brings him face-to-face with the sister of the woman whose heart now beats in his chest.

I really am not a writer and don't really enjoy writing reviews, so I don't do the review right after reading a book, no matter how much I like it. Also, I can't remember details so but I do rate them by stars. Michael Connelly is a good writer an I have never not liked something he has written. That said. Read his books.

Ex-CIA master assassin Court Gentry has always prided himself on his ability to disappear at will, to fly below the radar and exist in the shadows - to survive as the near-mythical Gray Man. But when he takes revenge upon a former employer who betrayed him, he exposes himself to something he’s never had to face before. A killer who is just like him. Code-named Dead Eye, Russell Whitlock is a graduate of the same ultra-secret Autonomous Asset Program that trained and once controlled Gentry.

As in a lot of my reading, since finding audible books, I have found that certain style of books I enjoy listening to more than actually reading it. This is a great series. Lots of action good story lines and easy to picture the scenarios without even trying. If you like adventure and action and a good hero, listen to the series.

This was a surprise to me. I read the book and enjoyed it not thinking that it was outstanding so surprise when I found myself thinking about it for several weeks after I read it. I am now almost thru book 2 and still don't know what took my attention but I am hooked on the story. Good characters that come alive without being aware that they took root in my mind. Very good writing, good story line and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys other times and magic.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

I wasn't expecting to get into this story as much as I did. I enjoyed the premise of the story and very much enjoyed the narrator. His deliverance was the best I have heard and he help make it a great listen. I knew nothing of the story and thought it was well written, thought provoking and entertaining. I looked forward to his other books in the series.

Now it’s getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett’s social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there’s another project he’s got his eye on: the girl he’s been waiting to kiss since he was sixteen.

I purchased this as a bargain and normally enjoy Nora Roberts Trilogies. The story was the same format as the Chesapeake series.
I had a hard time enjoying the book as the readers voice of the characters was soooooooooooo bad that it interfered with my concentration.
I had reserved the other two books but decided to delete them from my wish list. If I do decide to continue the series I will
buy the Kindle version and read it.

Just finished the series and found that I enjoyed this one the best. It's a light read, the story line the same in all the books; boy meets girl etc. etc. The storyline was incidental to the getting together of the couples in the first three books. I enjoy some romance however I want my storyline more. The series
would not be complete without the fourth book.
I prefer to listen to Nora Roberts as to reading her. It's easy to follow while I am driving. There were three narrators and the one in book 3 and book 4 were both very good. If you like Nora
Roberts I would recommend these books.

I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy I enjoy the Ireland setting, the story line and Fiacre Douglas narration. He did a wonderful job doing both male & female, it was done so smoothly that I could forget a man was doing it all.

The 3rd book was the least interesting and I felt like Nora Roberts was winding down.

I would recommend the books to anyone who likes Nora Roberts.
