The problem with Democrats, Carville and Begala argue, is not ideological. It's anatomical. They lack a backbone. Take It Back is a spinal transplant for Democrats and an audacious battle plan for victory.

Looking for something to inspire you? Leave your politics outside and listen to this. Then work to reclaim America. I'm sorry this is only available in its abridged version.

When Maximilian Ophuls is murdered outside his daughter's home by his Kashmiri Muslim driver, it appears to be a political killing. Ophuls is the former U.S. ambassador to India and America's leading figure in counter-terrorism. But there is much more to Ophuls and his assassin, a mysterious man calling himself "Shalimar the Clown", than meets the eye. One woman is at the center of their shared history, a history of betrayal and deception.

I was bowled over by this book. Loved all the amazing historical details. This is an author who has done his homework. Mr Rushdie managed to make me sympathetic to all the characters in spite of their conflicting stories. So much tragedy. So little hope.

  • The Brothers Karamazov

In The Brothers Karamazov, Dostoevsky explores human nature at its most loathsome and cruel but never flinches at what he finds. The novel tells the stirring tale of four brothers: the pleasure-seeking, impatient Dmitri; the brilliant and morose Ivan; the gentle, loving, and honest Alyosha; and the illegitimate Smerdyakov, shy, silent, and cruel. They are behind the murder of one of literature's most despicable characters: their father. This was Dostoevsky's final and perhaps his finest work.

David says: "superb rendition of Dostoyevsky's greatest novel"
    "Don't bother"
    Overall

I didn't mind the reader. I thought he did a good job of distinguishing the many characters.

Since I had enjoyed Crime and Punishment and The Idiot, I thought I would complete the trilogy. I did listen to the whole thing but it was a hard slog because I didn't like any of the characters. Since I didn't like any of the characters, I also didn't care about their deep personal struggles.

I love long books but please give me characters that I can care about!
